Horror Zach Creggers’ Weapons

WB's marketing skills are driving this to a potential $300m finish. That's quite a bit more than any of the Smile films made. Considering Warner is leading all studios in market share and has had 6 films open over $40m, their marketing department must be doing something right.
What marketing are they doing? The public are doing all the marketing

Yeah, the marketing didn't make me see this in theaters. It had me curious but the overwhelmingly positive reviews were what pushed me to buy a ticket instead of waiting for it to come to streaming.

That first teaser got a ton of people interested in the mystery of the film and every subsequent trailer was very well received. All of the door cam videos released of the kids running out of their homes got a lot of buzz on social media. WB also did a great job highlighting Cregger because he has developed quite the following within the horror community.

Pre-sales for the film were very strong out of the gate, which shows that a ton of interest was already there even before the review embargo was lifted. That's a credit to marketing.

Hypothetically. Would a prequel movie just be called Weapon?

Also, if WB was smart- spoiler, they aren't- the marketing could've involved some cross-promotion with Shonen Jump for those Naruto readers. I can already see some middle-aged exec considering the promo: "Want to see someone run like a Naruto? Go see Weapons!"

The more I think about the title the more the alternate ending makes sense...

Gladys vs Silver Surfer in a gang war using children as... WEAPONS.
That might have ruined the movie for me. Garner's character didn't know what was going on, how would she have known how to control the kids?

Creggers didn't go into full detail, but I think Alex helps her with the tree and instead of the kids tearing Gladys apart it was Julie and Alex vs Gladys using the kids.

Creggers did an interview with Last Podcast on the Left and talked about his process. He said that he writes very steam of consciousness and that he didn't really know the "why" when he started writing. I write the same way so I found that fascinating.

honestly...
I thought the twist was going to be that "there was no twist" and that it was just all the parents going after the teacher (who had nothing to do with it) an it would just be a story of the human condition of "how far would you go for your kids" an only after the fact that they went "too far" do they realize it wasn't her...

an they just have to live with what they did
