Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League - Part 8

Fiona has claimed this several times apparently, but I really don't buy that the Snyder Cut was going to be announced at Comic-Con. Even Jay, who has been quite vocal about the subject and is one of Snyder's biggest defenders, said WB isn't interested in something that might potentially divert attention from the new direction they're going in and they're already not following whatever was laid out in the first few movies anymore.

There's no reason to release 'Snyder Cut', as they are no longer following the five-movie story that was initially planned. At the most, we should expect an 'Extended Cut' with many scenes shot by Snyder included in the JL movie (they might include those Vulko, Mera, Old Atlantis scenes that don't conflict with the story Wan is telling in Aquaman, remember that Snyder had discussed certain scenes with Wan at the time he was filming JL), but for that we will have to wait till Aquaman's theatrical run is over, maybe they will release it at the same time they release Aquaman's Bluray/DVD.

Aquaman becoming a huge hit increases the chances that we might see Justice League 'Extended Cut' sometime soon, that's our only hope.

A popular DCEU might convince WB it's worth releasing this almost finished DC film they've got on the shelf. If Aquaman, WW84 and Flash are hits we might get to see it in about 5 years time, Otherwise we'll could be waiting 10-20 years.

The Snyder Cut is dead. Bury it.

We won't see it anytime soon, but at least I imagine eventually a bunch of unfinished scenes will be released/leaked and there'll be a fan edit.
Years or decades in the future.

I dont think any of our expectations would have been raised for a release if there wasnt this constant leak of information, footage, images etc from the movie. Ive never ever seen a film where the CGI companies who worked on it have made such an aggressive effort to leak deleted footage after the fact. Theres clearly other parties besides the fans who are pushing for it.

That's true. The success of subsequent DCEU films would only be beneficial for the theoretical release of the Snyder Cut (which I wouldn't expect to happen any time soon, due to avoid confusion with conflicting narratives between the old and new plans for the franchise), that's why I don't understanding the reasoning behind people advocating for "boycotting" any future movies; this whole "release it or we'll boycott the other ones" is one of the biggest displays of fanboy entitlement and immaturity I've seen ever, the line of thinking that takes you there is incredibly childish and tantrum-ey. If there's any chance of the Snyder cut ever seen the light of day, will be due to the success of a couple of DCEU movies.

True that too.

It's people being delusional and thinking that if the new wave of films bomb, then WB will come crawling on their knees to beg Zack to come back and finish his original vision. When it's a thousand times more likely WB would just do another DC movie hiatus like they did after Batman and Robin flopped. Or the extended break on Superman flicks between Superman IV and Superman Returns.

Lol, yeah it's a weird leap in logic. If the new films bomb, then surely WB will release the original cut of another film that bombed from a director who's work preceding said bomb underperformed.

If it happens, it only happens when DCEU is about to be rebooted after a long string of hits. We'll all be a bit gray (or grayer depending) in the face by the time that happens.

It'll never happen. I think the best bet, would be for Snyder to collaborate with some comic book artists, and get a graphic novel over the rest of his story. And even that probably wont happen.

I think what we should really be campaigning and asking WB for, something much more realistic and potentially cooler, is an animated adaptation of Snyder's JL. Like, how badass would a 2 part, Jay Oliva directed, JL movie be, one that actually fully realizes Zack's original script and vision? With animation they'd have no budgetary or tonal restrictions and they could just go nuts. They could even get guys like Fisher and Ezra to voice their parts (i doubt Henry, Gal and Ben would).

I would HAPPILY take an animated Snyder cut, who's with me?

I don't know why Zack hasn't done any DC animated movies in the style of the Owl movie or just an DC animated movie period. I think it would suite his talents better

Remember how it exciting it used to be around here during those days?

I'd be on that in a heartbeat. I think it's the only way we'd be able to get a fully realized version of his story. I still have the faintest of hope that we'll (at the very least) get an extended cut for JL, but it's dwindling by the day...

You know, one of the things that really irks me a lot is that Warner Bros had the nerves to still attach Snyder's name to "Justice League", despite the fact that most of the film had been butchered and re-shot by Joss Whedon. Snyder was not responsible for the abomination that we got in theaters last year and yet they still play it off as though it was his film.

Yeah, if I was him, I’d be fighting for for my name to be taken off the project at that point.

He’s a good company soldier though. Other than the little shots in Vero posts, he’s been radio silent. My ass woulda been blacklisted by WB and all of Hollywood by now lol.

I don't blame Whedon either. He did all he could do under the circumstances.

Man that’s gotta suck

Your work is cast aside for a version of the movie that still ends up failing and you can’t say anything about it because it could affect your status for future potential projects. Let alone all the stuff he was already going through to begin with.

I pointed this out as well. At what point, despite how much of what the original director shot still being technically in the movie, is there enough of a change from that director's intent that it's no longer really his movie? To attach "Directed by Zack Snyder" despite all the changes and to the degree that it was changed, yeah, they did him dirty, imo.

The drama behind Justice League is well enough known at this point that I doubt that'll be the straw that broke the camel's back for his career. That the movie was a Frankenstein of confused studio editing is public knowledge at this point, and I'm sure that's especially the case in an industry as insular and gossip heavy as Hollywood.

I love Whedon being the scapegoat for Snyder's disaster. Imagine they did release the cut one day? I bet most fans are hoping they don't...

What's Synder been up to anyways?

This is a response moved from the Aquaman thread. Few scapegoat Whedon. They blame him for some of the problematic or poor moments in JL that we know he's responsible for (Flash falling on Wonder Woman's boobs, Lois Lane's grief, dumb jokes, etc.), but most of the frustration has always been directed at WB.

Having not seen Snyder's cut, it's hard to say if it was truly bad enough to call it as "disaster," but the problem is not being proactive and taking him off the project and delaying the project when they were already conflicted about Snyder. Even worse was the way in which they made the stupid move of blowing tens of millions of extra dollars on something that couldn't be fixed after the fact and only made things worse with controversy before and after release. I don't think there would be a problem releasing the cut one day. It doesn't affect anyone or hurt anyone, especially anyone who doesn't care to see it; no one is forcing them to buy it or watch it.

As for what Snyder's been up to, he's been grieving his daughter's death, doing seminars with college students, spending time with friends and family making a short film, making commercials to support the fight against cancer, and working on his next film projects (The Last Photograph and The Fountainhead).
