Zelda

where do games like Link to the Past, Awakening, Seasons, and Ages fall into this?

A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening were developed by EAD and take place after the Wind Waker in a new Hyrule

Seasons and Ages are like the Four Swords series, try and put them somewhere and it just fudges things up. That's why I really don't consider the Flagship games to be in continuity.

LA could take place in New Hyrule since it was about Link stranded on an island. But LttP I disagree with.

Here is a site that lists a possible chronology.

The Link from A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening are the same Link.

Also if you compare the two Hyrules of Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past, they are completely different.

Notice a lot of differences.

Ugh. It's like Trek and the difference in Klingon appearances; Doctor Who and the difference in Dalek appearances; etc.....different production teams with different ideas. It's that simple in most cases.

Well I know most fans have their theories, but I honestly don't think Hyrule is supposed to rise again after Wind Waker.

I just replayed that game and it is made very clear that the land Zelda (Tetra) and Link are going to find will NOT be Hyrule at the king's request and demand, but a new land for the future. Hyrule is dead and buried forever.

Which to me makes all 2D Zelda games besides A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening (which was a dream anyway) very hard to place.

My theory is becoming more and more that there is a different timeline for 3D Zelda games.

First of all I never bought into that alternate timeline BS, I think hippie hunter nailed on the head what I thought of the ending for the last 7 years to Ocarina of Time. After that, Majora's Mask clearly follows. And Wind Waker is clearly the descendants of OOT as that story is the one specified in the opening sequences and when you go down to Hyrule (old Hyrule) besides clues down there of it being the obvious (including the Hero of Time's statue) there is the stained glass windows of the Six Sages from OOT.

Now the gap is when Hyrule was flooded. My guess is Twilight Princess is about the new Link taking place over the old Hero of Time who has passed away (whether with Zelda or not) and his failings to save Hyrule and would thus connect the saga and complete the 3D Zelda world.

Now considering that GAnon was locked away in the Sacred Realm at the end of OOT and he escapes and plunges the world into darkness in A Link to the Past to me that would fit wondedrfully between MM and TP though it would disagree heavily with WW's legend.

And you can tack Link's Awakening in the dreamlike state onto that with it and even Fourswords/Minsh Cap if you want (though I consider it a non-entity). Which only leaves out the ORacles, which I don't count, Phillips, which I also don't count and the NES games. And much like the ORacles games I think despite his cyncism that HateMyself was quite right some of it is just branched off of itself as the same idea with different storylines and that is the NES games and Orcale games then.

Just my theory though.

BTW the map in OOT was awesome for its day and is still great fun to explore. Though it is dated I still get a kick out of more than the much more populated and much bigger but far duller Great SEa world of Wind Waker though.

Link's Awakening is in continuity despite being a dream. Despite never actually happening, it still somewhat happened within the Hero of Legend's mind.

Have no fear people, 15 minutes of playing TP on the Wii and I am convinced its amazing.

What the h-e-l-l is that cool badass mothertrucking thing? :wow:

It's fake. I was pretending it was real, but then I was afraid I would get in trouble with a mod. I edited some of my posts. But it's still cool, but I would never play with it.

It's very cool for a fake. I can just imagine the shield being motion senstivie and rising over your face to have Link protect himself. :)

It'd be badass, but you'd like even more ******ed than you already will with the Wii Mote.

CRUEL. I would still call it a ridiculous idea, but that's a NICE shield replica.

Some new screenshots out today, but here's just a couple:

Looks as though this'll be one of Link's alternate shields:

Pure beauty:

That looks like the initial one (probably Hero's Sheild). Then you get the Hylian one followed by the good 'ol mirror shield.

Great videos (updated throughout tonight and the weekend) on IGN. Awsome video of a path in Hyrule and Twilight castle settings

I just can't wait for Wii and this killer sweet game! thanks for the pixs peoples

I've had my GC copy preordered since January.

Well I'm not such a big a fan as everyone else.

Hence not posting in here really. This game will go down as one of the best ever, but I've never got too into the series.

Never too late to get into it. What makes you so sure that this will go down as one of the best ever when you're not a big fan of Zelda? Can you just see the buzz other people are making?

Because, in my books Orcarina of Time is one of the best games ever, I've just never really gotten into the series. Never bothered with any handheld titles, passed on Majora's Mask and 4 Swords etc.

I've been hearing a lot from people that this will be better than OoT, and if its anywhere near as awesome as that, it'll still be one of the best games ever imo.
