I like Zooey a lot but I think she's too pretty to play Janis. My choice would be Renee Zellweger. First of all, she's kind of funny looking, as was Janis. Second of all, she's from Texas, as was Janis.

Pretty good singer...but the real question is...can she act? If we're just going by the fact that she's a white woman with a bluesy singing voice Joss Stone would be just as good. I'm sure there's more singers that would qualify too by that logic.
