Anyway, this is some pretty important news about Iran's new favorite woman punching bag:

Iran 'stoning woman' to be lashed over photo

This whole situation seriously makes me sick, but what makes me even sicker is that this is only one high profile example of Iran's institutionalized misogyny, which has made victims out of untold numbers of women. I wish someone would kidnap the judge who sentenced her, throw him in some slimy dungeon, then flog him with a whip and then pelt him with stones so he can see how he likes it.

It really is sickening...

Brazil had offered the stoning woman asylum......Iran has not responded.

Brazil had offered the stoning woman asylum......Iran has not responded.

It's a good gesture, but unfortunately given that the woman is in an Iranian prison I don't think she'll be able to get to Brazil any time soon. :(

Lovers are beheaded and whipped in Saudi Arabia but for some reason Iran is somehow more important?

Please, by all means, get started. Because the media is stuck on Iran, for good reason, we are creating the political clout and justification to bomb it for not doing what the Western world wants.

That's because the Arabs own half our country through their investments, and they are on our middle east allies list even though they do not represent any of the values that the western world stands for except for making lots of money. The only thing that makes them any different from Iran or any other despotic religious nation in the region is that they don't (officially) want to destroy Israel. They are not a free country by any stretch of the imagination, and religious persecution and institutionalized misogyny are both alive and well.

Ahmadinejad voices doubts about 9/11 attacks

(AFP) – 1 day ago

DOHA — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has questioned the accepted narrative of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, saying it was still not clear who was behind them.

"Something happened in New York and still nobody knows who the main perpetrators of that act were," Ahmadinejad told diplomats and newspaper editors late on Sunday while on a brief visit to Qatar.

"No independent people were allowed to try and identify the perpetrators," he charged.

"They say terrorists were hidden in Afganistan and NATO mobilised all its resources and attacked Afghanistan," he said.

"They say that in the Twin Towers, 2,000 people were killed. In Afganistan, so far more 110,000 have been killed."

Ahmadinejad has on several occasions questioned the accepted version of the 2001 attacks by Al-Qaeda militants, which killed nearly 3,000 people in the United States.

In March, he referred to the attacks as "a big lie," Iranian state media reported.

Iran is locked in a standoff with Western governments over its nuclear programme.

The UN Security Council imposed a fourth round of sanctions on June 9 over Iran's failure to heed repeated ultimatums to suspend uranium enrichment, the sensitive process which can produce fuel for nuclear reactors or, in higly extended form, the fissile core of an atomic bomb.

The European Union, Japan and the United States have all imposed additional sanctions of their own, over and above the UN ones.

Western governments suspect Iran's nuclear programme is cover for a weapons drive, something Tehran strongly denies.

I wonder if he is goading us into bombing him. Nothing is stopping him from moving forward on the nuke program and he says moronic things like this. He is doing everything he can to rub us the wrong way.

Actually, I think just based on the nontransparent reporting of the war in the West, that it is not unreasonable to ask for some of the things he is requesting, except for an independent investigation into the 9/11 plots that's absolutely ridiculous, but regarding Iraq and Afghanistan, I agree with to search out violations of international law through a UN not dominated by the U.S. pressuring it.

Plus all of the threats he's put out are only a response to Western media emphasizing constantly that the military option has not been taken off the table, and sometimes only asks about that question itself. The West is going to let itself get buried if it does not wake up.

Because it's the UN not the U.S. building.

He hasn't just been in the UN building. He's been doing an all-out media run. I don't know why he's even given the time of day. He's venomous.

Oh, I only thought you meant the UN. In that case, it's because the media will bring anyone on because we all watch when they do. They know what they need to do to get us watching.

Ahmadinejad's food stinks up hotel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad doesn't need nuclear weapons -- his food stinks so bad, he's practically cleared out the Hilton Manhattan East. The finicky fascist brought his own personal chef to prepare his meals while he's in town for the UN General Assembly, a source told The Post's Helen Freund. Unfortunately, his meals "make the whole hotel stink like hell," said the source. The Hilton did not return a call for comment.

If his favorite foods stink, I wonder if it stands to fair reason that he does, too... That nuclear plant they're building sure does.

Many Asian foods do stink, its the herbs and spices in them....

Yeah but, the entire hotel? Really? My friend's family, who are from Africa, cooked some smelly food as well. But it only really smelled in the kitchen, not the entire house. And we are talking about an entire hotel here. That's crazy.

Looks like Bush and Ahmadinejad are on the same page. Both doesn't know "who" attacked us.

Maybe to the untrained nose. Cheese to Asians stink.

Touche.

It's probably hyperbolic. Actually, probably definately hyperbolic. Like you said, a food stinking up an entire hotel? Doesn't sound very likely.

That was just cheap shots against Ahmadinejad...you know, to supplement his offensive speech. Ofcourse evil people smell bad, eat disgusting things, and probably sacrifice puppies to alters.

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's nuclear agency is trying to combat a complex computer worm that has affected industrial sites throughout the country and is capable of taking over power plants, Iranian media reports said.

Experts from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran met this week to discuss how to remove the malicious computer code, or worm, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported Friday.

The computer worm, dubbed Stuxnet, can take over systems that control the inner workings of industrial plants. Experts in Germany discovered the worm in July, and it has since shown up in a number of attacks — primarily in Iran, Indonesia, India and the U.S.

The ISNA report said the malware had spread throughout Iran, but did not name specific sites affected. Foreign media reports have speculated the worm was aimed at disrupting Iran's first nuclear power plant, which is to go online in October in the southern port city of Bushehr.

Iranian newspapers have reported on the computer worm hitting industries around the country in recent weeks, without giving details. Friday's report also did not mention Bushehr.

The Russian-built plant will be internationally supervised, but world powers remain concerned that Iran wants to use its civil nuclear power program as a cover for making weapons.

Iran denies such an aim and says its nuclear work is solely for peaceful purposes.

While there have been no reports of damage or disruption at any Iranian nuclear facilities, Tuesday's meeting signaled a high level of concern about the worm among Iran's nuclear officials.

The destructive Stuxnet worm has surprised experts because it is the first one specifically created to take over industrial control systems, rather than just steal or manipulate data.

The United States is also tracking the worm, and the Department of Homeland Security is building specialized teams that can respond quickly to cyber emergencies at industrial facilities across the country.

Well considering we give more to the budget of the UN, than 90% of the other countries combined, I think it should hold some respect. Instead, as many American UN workers will tell you, to your face as an American you are treated fine, turn your back and they will stab it immediately.

Oh lord yes, I had an Iranian couple that lived below me.....when they would cook, it permeated EVERYWHERE.....I live in a courtyard type of set up, and you could smell it down the courtyard, in my apartment, the people across from me would always complain about it, so apparently they could smell it as well.
