It is reminding me a bit of the Taliban retaking Afghanistan where they met little resistance over the many months that it took. This is proceeding along at lightning speed in comparison but we don't know if ends with a guy with suitcase full of money fleeing to another country in the end or nothing at all.

If Putin is ousted, who takes over? Do the oligarchs have a plan or will there be infighting? I’m not sure if Russia is better off with a dictator or in chaos. Granted there is always some degree of chaos there.

Indeed. But Russia descending into chaos is almost certainly a good thing for Ukraine. The more Russians start to kill each other inside Russia, the more demoralized and disorganized the Russian troops on the frontline will start to become.

Without any democratic election with decent candidates Russia is pretty much F’d either way. At least Putin is getting what he deserves now.
