🇷🇺🇺🇦 Discussion: Relations with Russia and the war in Ukraine

Why is this not a thing already?
Russia does not deserve to take part in anything.
They attack a country currently,

Did you support the USA being banned from the Olympics after the invasions of Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc?

Anyway, I think that Russia will be banned from the Olympics, and Israel won't be. It will further damage the image of the West with the global majority.

Russian diplomats recently hosted the various factions of the Palestinian leadership in Moscow. The aim of talks was for the different factions to put aside their differences and form a united front, so that the Palestinian people can speak with and be represented by one voice in this time of crisis and moving forward.

M. K. Bhadrakumar contextualizes Macron's feign to Ukraine in the context of France-Russia rivalry in Africa, France's geopolitical decline, as well as the significance of Ukraine's grain fields.

It is interesting to see the propaganda diet in the US on Ukraine changing.

Here is President Bill Clinton speaking to Putin's honesty:

And here's the Washington Post, which is owned by Jeff Bezos, articulating how cruel/unsustainable it is to use Ukrainians as cannon fodder:

NATO has lost the war in Ukraine. Coming to terms with that earlier may contain the damage. It's simultaneously the case that many in Washington would rather fight a war against Iran and/or China, that requires first ending the war against Russia.

That would fall in line with the rumblings that Russian people are getting restless.
Working them to the bone for a war they dont want, is Not helping.
So it would be on Brand for Putin to kill a few louder voices to keep the people in check.

Putin wins election in major shock! :o
But it will Not be as sweet as he expected.
Lots of protest, more Arrests...all things that Show his Power has its Limits.
Sure He "won" easily, but its the small Details that matter and hurt his fragile ego.

The worst thing is that people believe this dumb lie and others like this.
And he doesnt even have to try hard to make up something because way too many people believe he is a good guy when every evidence tells otherwise.
Its insane.
A prisoner swap could have happened in all these years, yet conveniently one was thought about shortly before he died? Suuuuurrrreeeeee.

Whatever gets them out of this country, I guess.

The problem with this is that despite being the same kind of awful, russian and american Conservatives dont see eye to eye in the end.
Because Conservatives are in general awful to everyone who is not them, so the moment a American Conservative comes to live in Russia...the russian conservative hates that one because that is just how conservatives are.

Nukes in space: What have Russia and the United States said?

The clearest public sign Washington thinks Moscow is working on a space-based anti-satellite nuclear weapon was a White House spokesperson's comment on Thursday that the United States believes the system being developed would violate the Outer Space Treaty.

The 1967 treaty bars signatories – including Russia and the United States – from placing "in orbit around the earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction."
The New York Times reported on Saturday, without citing sources, that in recent weeks a warning has circulated from America's spy agencies that Russia may be planning a new secret military satellite launch and that the key question was whether it would use it to put an actual nuclear weapon into space.

Russia's deputy U.N. ambassador Dmitry Polyansky said Moscow's initial impression is that the proposed resolution is "yet another propaganda stunt by Washington," "very politicized" and "divorced from reality."

He criticized the text, saying the wording wasn't worked out by experts nor discussed at specialized international platforms such as the U.N. Conference on Disarmament or the U.N. Committee on Outer Space.
But Russia's Polyansky accused the West of "trying to inflict strategic defeat on my country."

"Any interaction will only be possible if the United States and NATO review their anti- Russian course, and when they show that they are ready to participate in comprehensive dialogue, taking into account all of those strategic stability factors and removing all of the concerns that we have about our security," he said.
