Film 📽️ THE CINEMA LOUNGE

General Film
Would you guys crucify me if I told you two things:

Nosferatu is the first Eggers film that I ever saw and B), while it was a masterpiece, I think The Substance was the better horror this year?

Both had great occult symbolism though. :sneeze:
Nah, I think you're free from judgment there on both counts because Nosferatu is probably Eggers' most "mainstream" movie to date so I'm sure you're in good company and The Substance has been getting just as much praise if not more than Nosferatu.

2. I also have The Substance above Nosferatu in my ranking (but not by much)
Okay, now this just comes down to a question of who's hotter, Monstro Elisasue or Full Frontal Skarsgard? :o

Neither, it's Skye Riley mid-Smile demon transformation

Oh my God, I was not prepared for that Full Frontal or that impromptu sex scene with the possessed Lily Depp. Nicholas Hoult just got to unfastening his pants after getting emasculated and I was like...

But the real answer is the Romani woman on the horse. :o

I gotta watch The Lighthouse again. The first time I watched it I had a fever but to be honest it kind of enhanced the movie a bit?

HOT Take: The Sonic movie Trilogy (as it stands right now) is the best Movie Trilogy of the last 10 years.

Better than Venom, Tom Holland Spidey, Fantastic Beasts, SW Sequel. I would say the closest would be GoTG and Quiet Place.

You might as well take the Holland Spidey movies out of the equation since there'll be a fourth one, though as with pretty much all the MCU "trilogies" it's not standalone. You need Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame for context in Peter's overall arc.

I've got nothing against them but the Sonic movies aren't really my cup of tea since I didn't really play many of the games growing up but as far as an overall story goes it's certainly more coherent than Venom, Fantastic Beasts or the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

I'd say the Planet of the Apes trilogy counts even through there have been movies in the past.

There's definitely an argument for Rise/Dawn/War being a standalone "Caesar trilogy" even though films came before and after it.

Brady Corbet was in a round table with fellow directors. He got the most questions asked by the other directors. I’m itching to see it for myself, but he might be a front runner along side Baker for director. Not bad for a dude who almost played Harry Osborne.

Streaming has made most films look like birds slamming against a wall. No legs, just death. Brad Pitt and Clooney made a film together and it didn’t even make a whimper. Lawd. Not saying it should’ve, based on reviews, but you know what I mean, even that type of flick would’ve been a mini event in some sense some years ago.Eh.

Again where's that Home Alone legacy sequel. 😭
Have you been living in a cave? Everyone loved the Home Alone legacy sequel starring the other kid from Jojo Rabbit with a cameo from Buzz as the only returning character. :o
