1.01 - Pilot - Discussion/Feedback.

I caught the rerun of the premire last night after fieldwork. I enjoyed it but it wasn't so good that it rocked my socks off, so I'll give it a few episodes and it'll either kick up and retain my interest or I may not care.

And yes, my favorite character was also Hiro, but not only because he was a sympathetic geek. It was because he was the only character who embraced the concept of gaining a super-power with a reaction that wasn't either horror, angst, or blase' (like the cheerleader, the stripper, and just about everyone else). It also twisted some genre expectations by so-far giving female characters the physical powers that male characters usually have (healing factor, a seemingly "unbeatable" transformative alter ego), and the male characters the less physical powers that the girls usually get (psychic stuff, flight, teleportation, etc). But it wasn't perfect and the series is already almost at critical max with the number of characters and it's expected to increase. Guess they're setting up some canon fodder.

The explaination for the burst of their powers, though, was a little generic and, yes, simular to mutants. "Oh, the human genome is just evolving randomly. Boo." But that doesn't make it bad.

So, I'll watch it. The question is, for how long? That depends on the next few episodes.

I was pretty impressed with Heroes. I didnt even know it was being hyped. i knew about it and saw commercials everyonce in awhile, but w/e. The Indian guy is a real cool character, I want to see more from him. I cant wait for more. It seems like it is going in a good direction.

SPOILER
Plus I love how the painter painted the kid falling and he just flips it over and thinks hes flying. Once he flipped it I knew it was gonna bite him in the ass.

It was decent. I'll check it out the next few episodes.

Supposedly there is a black male character coming later who can phase through walls. He's rumored to be incarcerated. The stripper chick said something to her obviously not all white son about his father "not being in a position to help" which made me think that the prisoner is possibly his father. Either way, I hope the jailbird isn't the only black character they decide to have on the show...

Practically everyone's powers are lame. Where's the guy who can shoot laser beams from his eyes and the guy who has claws in his hands?

in the x-men, being cliche and all

I finally got around to watching the Pilot, and it was about what I expected. Eh.

Some of the storylines have potential, but the dialogue was just too obvious. Nobody said anything interesting or out of the ordinary.

I'll watch the next few before I decide if I'm gonna keep watching.

I'd rather see the show 'Villains'. Just think of what that would be... :)

I think the thing that will most differentiate Heroes from X-Men is the FATE element.

It is somewhat about genetic evolution, but there's also a mystical element, an element of destiny and fates being pre-ordained.

Plus, Nikki's power isn't scientific. It's magical. Magical mirror identities! Whoo!

Just watched the show...

I really liked it! It's a pilot, after all, which no one seems to be able to keep in mind (the ones bashing it). What pilot is all that great? Not many.

Hiro's cool, of course, and I really like Nikki alot... I hope she doesn't turn into a villain! I liked the twist at the end, too. The whole Emapath thing makes sense now, but while watching it, I just wasn't sure if they both could fly or what was going on...

If they should kill any one off right away, I say the Painter needs to go. So he can see the future, blech... so what? Get rid of him, or the "Heroes" will always have an idea of where to be to stop disasters. Kill him off.

If you think about it, Hiro is probably (right now) the most powerful of all of them. He can manipulate/control (maybe?) space and time! Just makes me think about the Infinity Gems...

Anyhow, great show, can't wait for more, it's a nice replacement to that other great show I miss, Commander-in-Chief. :)

And Studio 60 and Lost are great, too. :o

I dont think there's anything "magical" about her powers, and I dont think the show is going the route of magic. I think she's got some sociopathic alter-ego like My. Hyde or the Hulk. I think the thing you see in the mirror that looks like her, is just the other personality in her head, sort of like when Banner would see the Hulk in the mirror, but in her case (hopefully) it doesnt necessarily look like her since she doesn't know anything about it yet. Their gonna purposefully build up to finding exactly what the heck that thing is.

Finally got to watch it. And you know what? It met my expectations. :) I really enjoyed it. It's easily one of my favorite series now!
I really enjoyed the characters and the powers for each of them. Had some great humor and some intensity. I'm a fan now. :)

This show really reminds me of JMS's Rising Stars series.

I was a little disappointed at first, because the series starts out slower than I had anticipated, but now in the second episode, with the brain-stealing mutant serial killer, it's starting to pick up!

Okay, maybe I'm a little slow on the upkeep, however...

I was just watching the pilot episode and as Peter wakes up (tending to Simone's father's (Charles) bedside) he states to Simone that he has been having these intense dreams (where he sees himself flying off a building).

Then later in the season Peter has another dream sequence that directly involves Charles.

HERE IS THE BIG QUESTION...
Was Peter's first dream about flying brought on by Charles Deveaux? Was he actually tapping into Charles' powers??
