Actually, [blackout]it didn't get nuked. Manhattan had to have been leveled traditionally. If the city had been nuked, then there would be no camera for the government to find.[/blackout]
Yeah, I was thinking about that too.

but why have the sirens going off? and it looked like traditional non-nuclear bombing wasn't working.

Fine, but that's a risky course to take. Look what happened to the Blair Witch sequel when it went off in new directions.

I've never seen them.

I know it's risky. But does it need to have all the suspense and mystery of the first? We've had that. Now, can't we just get some Monster action.

Just like any other sequel, you've introduced the monster. Now just hit the ground running with the second one.

But then doesn't this hypothetical sequel just end up being another regular giant monster movie?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE giant monsters, and I'd love to see a more traditional monster-destroys-city movie done right (not like the 1998 American Godzilla), but the whole point of Cloverfield seems to be capturing a chaotic, mysterious, horrific event on video as it happens. Now that we've seen it happen, wouldn't a more traditionally-presented sequel just defeat the whole purpose of what Cloverfield was about in the first place?

I'd like to see it from the soldiers perspective. Taking off from a little ways past the mid-point of the first movie and extending much farther past the ending of the first film.

I just don't see how they would 100% avoid it if they do a sequel.

I'm fine if they don't do a sequel, but if they do, then I also don't mind it steeping into Giant Monster Movie territory a little to get the job done.

But this is just me.

If they can find a way to do a sequel and have all the mystery and suspense of Cloverfield then that would be awesome. I just can't think of how that would be possible right now.

Seeing as Cloverfield and The Host are two of the best monster movies in years I'd love a sequel to both.

Despite my reservations about a Cloverfield sequel, I confess I'd be first in line to see it. :woot:

I'd feel more confidant if J.J. Abrams was involved again, no doubt.

Naa, I say leave traditional monster movies to someone else and keep the Cloverfield series with the same camera style. (assuming it becomes one)
It's important it stays that way to capture the intensity.

If this had been filmed like a regular movie...it would have taken some of the life out of it. But with how it was filmed, I felt more like I was experiencing the film, rather then merely "watching" the film. It had a deeper impact...and I think seeing another story, possibly extending from the ending of the first could only be better.

Yeah, I don't think that the gov't would make a big portion of the US uninhabitable when there are many other bombs to use.

why are there 3 threads for cloverfield? mods? anywhere?

cause they are all dealing with diff aspects of the film.

Bah, we should have just created a mass lotto and feed a few people to the creature each week to appease it! :)

Hell, the Cloverfield thread is getting so big that the mods might have to eventually close it. It is almost getting to the point that it needs to get closed for site indexing purposes.

We might need to do that for the Meet The Spartans hread too. That movie is going to be huge...HUGE!!!

kidding of course.

if there was a thread for diff aspects of every film we see, do you realize what would happen?

Dang man, why are you so concerned? The last time I checked, you weren't Mirko, EXCELSIOR, or even a mod.

Same attack on city but from the military point of view.

last time i checked the general movies forum wasnt called cloverfield. theres alot of threads that got closed that are better then 3 cloverfield threads. you cant disagree there, theres a cloverfield pictures thread showing the same crap weve seen in the other thread.

^Agreed. Throw in a ton of vs. threads, crappy movie threads (Meet the Spartans I am talking about you), Who's who or who was the best threads, and you get really decent movie threads backlogged and dissapearing.

Alright, but still, the world isn't going to end. You are still bugging out about 3 (I am sure that the picture thread will be merged) threads.
