$10 million Opening Weekend in Japan

Terrible just a $3.2 million Opening Weekend from Japan. Even Jumper did more.

Very very bad start.

Edit: And yes i said $10 million in Japan i meant Asia my mistake.

Well it did better than Chun Li which cost Fox 60 million to make but they've only made $8,128,000 in the Box Office (huge flop). It looks like Dragonball:Evolution will make more money based on franchise popularity alone but I highly doubt it will make its budget back.

Yes wolverine its terrible.

Mummy 3 opened to over $7 million in Japan.

In South Korea it opened below Miami Vice.

i think this is good for a movie that is from there and is very different. and has from the info that we have very cheap action.

let's put it this way...Speed Racer made $93 mil worldwide while it made $18 mil on it's opening week. now the differenaces are that SR's opening WEEK but this is just DB:E's opening weekEND and SR opened first in America while DB is first opening in Asia, however, i seriously doubt DB:E will do much better with it's opening week in America. especially considering we haven't seen much of any marketing over here.

marketing for speed racer was HUGE.

I think its odd how Dragonball made more in China in 1 day than in Japan in 2 days.

so jumper did more while DB is their baby in asia?

well,db is inspired from the Chinese culture so...that'd make sense

There's a lot more people in China.

not only that, but the movie itself was of a much higher quality. the script was solid, the acting was entertaining, the action was CRAZY, and the effects were top notch. even the dialog had a sharpness to it. it's a severely underrated movie that just had unfortunate box office results.

if that movie couldn't withstand the battle against the American box office then DB:E stands a plant's chance in space.

This makes me happy :)

No money for you and your horrendous film, Fox

if Rothman has a contract with the devil then everything can happen. :waa:

i wouldn't really say a boycott so much as karma in action. if you spit out a bottom of the barrel product then you should expect bottom of the barrel results. if you truly invest and put quality in your product then you'll reap the rewards.

looks like eventually we truly are witnessing a general boicot huh?awesome

Not a boycott per say but an acknowledgment from the general audience/fans that says they aren't interested in a rushed, low quality, flat out mediocre film that doesn't embrace and expand on the source material but instead creates a dull deformation with hollow interpretations of the characters and setting we are all so familiar with.

.....or, people just don't have money to waste in today's economy.

These are foreign box office numbers and I'm not sure how much the United States economic meltdown has effected Asian moviegoers(Although some could argue that the economic downturn in America effects everyone else also).
