LOS ANGELES - “Spider-Man 3” is off and flying, with record-setting opening-day ticket revenues in Asia on Tuesday.
The film, which opens in the United States on Friday, topped the first-day grosses for Spideys 1 and 2 in both Japan and South Korea. It enjoyed the biggest opening-day ever for any film in Hong Kong and South Korea.
In Japan, the film’s first day brought in an estimated $3.5 million. In South Korea the take was $3.4 million.

Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man 3” stars Tobey Maguire as the comic-book superhero, with Kirsten Dunst as his enduring love, Mary Jane Watson.

MSNBC is making this movie out to be like the biggest news story of the year!

Thats really neat, good job spidy 3!

Thomas H Church looks like he is about to slap somebody.

What's up with the giraffe in that picture?

Are tickets much cheaper over in Asia or something? Do they have less theaters? I'm pretty sure they have a bigger population than us. Cause if it made 3 million in it's opening day over here, that'd be considered pathetic.

Why are people getting so excited over opening day records being broken? Wht's even more staggering is that, these are records being broken in Asia, seiously, was there any doubt? If it was a domestic recor-breaker then I could understand but eve still, opening day records or weekend records being broken mean nothing.....and as unlikely as I think this'll happen, I'll whip out the champers once sm3 owns the overall summer BO intake.

Why whats wrong with Asia? Are we lower forms of beings that could be given importance? While I do respect your opinion....I hope you respect our opinions and interest. As a spidey fan in Asia...I am happy that my country men love the hero I read in the comics. Asia is a continent that has different cultures so predictions as a sure winner in the BO is not true. No one said its a sure winner here but its exciting to hear that SM domination here is universal. I hope you wont make me explain anymore why we are excited and happy. Just respect it.

For you opening day and weekend records mean nothing but to others it does pls respect it. We are all different

Well written :yay: It’s just revolting that some people think record-breaking means nothing when it’s here in Asia, until it’s in the US. I’m so excited that Spidey 3 did so well. Too bad I have to wait for a month or two for it to hit the theatres here :csad:

I have nothing against Asia....I love the continent so much that I travel regularly to India and to Tokyo. However, I wasn't making a dig at all. I'm fully aware that spider-man's overall BO gross will come from over seas, it just so happened that the topic of discussion focused on Asia. It could have been Europe or any other continent for all I care, my point is the same....domestic BO right now is the what I'm focusing on. So, please, don't step to me with that, lower beings of importance crap because I said and nor did I indicate or imply such a thing.

we are all different...yet the same

^While I agree domestic is still important. I just said to respect those who are excited with the overseas gross. Especiallly when spider-man 3 earned 2x more what spiderman 2 earned or the combination of sm1 and 2 in almost every country.

Isn't it that amazing? Or its something you predicted? Either ways its great to be a spidey fan. We all should be happy that it has given inspiration to some and some even learned forgiveness and to do what is good after the movie.
