10 Token Black Guys That Deserve More Love

I'm glad they got Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead on there and I also think it's awesome Ernie Hudson took the #1 spot.

I can only imagine what the Ghostbusters franchise would have been like had Eddie Murphy played Winston instead of Ernie Hudson.

Oh well....we'll never know.

Although I do like Ernie Hudson and the fact that he's #1 on the list is all sorts of win.

There was a GB novel where Venkman runs for Mayor amid urban legends coming to life. Winston gets his due in the book.

Just guys? I would add Vernita Green (Kill Bill) to the list. I have a feeling she had a very interesting life. All of the Deadly Viper gang did.

Yeah, it would have been nice if they included some women but the term has always been "token black guy" so I can see why they didn't.

I never understood the love for Winston, he never did s**t in any of the movies. He didn''t do one interesting thing.

Winston Zeddemore for the win.

Winston is essentially the most token black guy ever. About half way through the movie, he just pops up to really serve no purpose other than having a black guy on the Ghostbusters. He really adds nothing to the plot. Most of the funny lines still go to Akryod, Murray, and Ramis. Winston is there in the first movie, just to be the black Ghostbuster. Don't get me wrong, I love Winston, but when you think about it, he is essentially the definition of token black guy. :(

This is true about Winston. Things would have been a lot different though had Winston been played by a better known black actor of that time (Eddie Murphy). Murphy was red hot at the time, Hudson was a virtual unknown and now is a character actor.
