Ferrell and Reilly Reteam for Step Brothers

Will Ferrell just told JoBlo.com that he and his TALLADEGA NIGHTS co-writer/director Adam McKay were ready to start work on their next script. Today their next project is announced and their bringing a TALLADEGA friend with them. Ferrell will star with John C. Reilly in STEP BROTHERS about two slacker buddies whose single parents wind up gettnig married making them stepbrothers. Like TALLADEGA, which was notoriously sold through th esimple pitch of "Will Ferrell does NASCAR," BROTHERS didn't take much of a hard sell. Because of their relationship on TALLADEGA, Columbia got first crack at the pitch and quickly bought the script and agreed to salaries for both Ferrell and Reilly. The film will have a budget less than what TALLADEGA cost because of its premium to use the NASCAR name and the expensive racing sequences. BROTHERS is expected to begin filming next summer. Ferrell is currently on hiatus from filming BLADES OF GLORY with Jon Heder and will resume after summer. Reilly recently wrapped filming on both YEAR OF THE DOG for Mike White and QUEBEC with Seann William Scott.
