I think it would be lovely if Christian Bale could do this for the kids...

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is totally detached from the reality of the situation. Bale wouldn't do this, because he's not a clown.

Are you calling this guy a clown?

(Ron Perlman suits up for dying boy)

It's likely that the boy WANTED him there. He wanted to see the character.

That is probably not the case in the shooting situation.

Fulfilling a child's dream for Make a Wish is a moving gesture. Dressing up in a costume to greet people who've been terrorized? Not so much.

Not to mention that it would be little more than an actor grandstanding which isn't what is needed right now. There are plenty of real first responder heroes that deserve to be praised, from the officers and medics reporting to the scene to those working to defuse the booby traps...they are heroes. Not Christian Bale. For him to show up and grandstand as one in light of a tragedy would be such an egotistic, disgusting act.

Bale would NEVER do something like that.....if anything, IF THEY WERE ASKED...MAYBE some of the actors would visit OUT OF CHARACTER .... to some of the younger kiddos...but that would be it.

Good post. My thoughts exactly.

Now can we please stop talking about this nonsense? It was a laughable idea from the start.

I think that if Bale or others involved with the movie attempted to quietly (if that's possible) visit the victims, that's not a bad thing. But there's probably no way to do that without it turning into a media spectacle, so yeah, probably best if they don't. Dressing up as Batman is definitely a terrible idea.

The cost of simply killing him will cost tens of millions of dollars. It's vastly cheaper just to lock him up for life. Not even a million I think.

Completely worth it to me if this is really the case. He clearly didn't want to die that night (considering the bulletproof vest, gas mask, and riot helmet), and offing this narcissistic sociopath would be the last thing he'd want. And I say give him what he doesn't want.

It would be better than him being in prison for decades, writing a book, and having it become a best-seller or something of the like. I want this nutcase gone, and gone for good. He doesn't need any more fame, a la Charles Manson.

I think the most that should be done should be a white-screen on TDKR Official Website, saying something like "Our hearts go out to all those affected by the Colorado Tragedy." Or something like that. Kinda like what the TDK Website did for Heath.

There really is no need for Bale or anyone from the movie to be involved in this. This was because of a random nutjob, not anything to do with the movie itself.

Remorseless mass-murder suspect James Holmes was locked up alone Saturday over fears that the self-proclaimed Joker would become a target for other inmates.

“Let’s just say he hasn’t shown any remorse,” a jail employee told the Daily News. “He thinks he’s acting in a movie.”

A released inmate said Holmes’ behavior behind bars was increasingly irrational.

“He was spitting at the door and spitting at the guards,” the inmate told The News. “He's spitting at everything. Dude was acting crazy.”

Holmes, 24, was also placed on suicide watch in solitary confinement before eating a jailhouse breakfast of grits and sausage, according to a cafeteria worker.

“All the inmates were talking about killing him,” Wayne Medley, 24, said as he left the facility. “Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about.”

Danilov said that if Holmes was released into the general jail population, “he won’t live to see Monday’s court appearance.”

No objection from me.

But yeah, spitting? Acting crazy? Calling himself the Joker? He is definitely trying to set himself up for insanity in order to avoid the death penalty.

Or he is...just crazy as ****....

The shooter was responsible for the murders not a movie. He could have just as easily shot up a theater showing the avengers.

I don't care how crazy he is, he should never see the light of day. I'm tired of people always trying to make excuses and make people feel sorry for cold blooded killers. I'm angry and sad over what happened. **** that killer, I hope another prisioner beats him to death.

As a Colorado resident my heart goes out to the victims of this terrible atrocity. Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss…our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. They say love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies.

The idea of the brilliant sociopath like Dexter, Keyser Soze, Jigsaw and Hannibal Lecter is one created by the media. For example, serial killers aren't brilliant. Their crimes are often very sloppy (though they improve with practice). They are just hard to find because they travel and have no connection to their victims.

There is far too much planning to fit the typology of a pure psychopath or a traditional spree killer for that matter. This was premeditated with precision. Crazy people don't premeditate to that level, they don't set up booby traps, they don't bring tear gas to disorient their victims.

How he is acting now doesn't mesh with the person who committed the crime. I'm not saying that he is not mentally ill. I am just saying that I don't buy the raving, spitting lunatic who believes he is the Joker story. My gut tells me it is an act and that he never planned to get caught (he was in costume, wearing a mask in a dark surrounding. I think somewhere in that delusional mind he thought that his face would never been seen and he could escape. This is now his plan B to avoid the gas chamber.

I'm just throwing stuff out there.....we don't know anything right now, and won't until he has been seen by his lawyers psychologist and the state's psychologist....Honestly....I hope its an act, and he gets all we have to give thrown at him.

Yeah. I just have a gut instinct here that it is an act. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time (I still stink of the stench of wearing that Cowboys avatar after losing a bet with you :argh: :hrt:). Either way, he isn't going to walk away from this. Life in an asylum can be just as unpleasant as life imprisonment.

I think if he was to have not wanted to be caught, he wouldnt have picked a theater across the street from the police station. Combined with the fact he was waiting by his car, I think he full well knew he was going to be caught and wanted the attention. Maybe he even thinks he has a "plan" to escape, (like a certain villain he keeps claiming I won't drag into this because I sincerely doubt he is being truly influenced by these films), and he's acting crazy because he thinks if he keeps pretending they'll try to underestimate him.

I think Son of Sam law prevents him from making money off of any book that recounts or glorifies his crime.

The attempts to conceal his identity indicates to me that on some level he felt that he could get away. Mind you, I also think there is a good chance that he was planning to end his own life (suicide through police perhaps, thus the location) and got cold feet.

Yeah and fortunately Colorado is one of 40 states that has an upheld Son of Sam law. That isn't to say that others won't try to profit off of this, but at least the murderer himself cannot.

So I read that Aurora police refuted the claim he's calling himself The Joker? Is that true?
