So I read that Aurora police refuted the claim he's calling himself The Joker? Is that true?

I haven't seen a press conference from the police today, but the 2 yesterday when they were asked, didn't deny or confirm it.

I'm hoping they deny and downplay the hell out of it. Reduces the amount of attention this guy gets and helps separate him from Batman.

“All the inmates were talking about killing him,” Wayne Medley, 24, said as he left the facility. “Everyone was looking for an opportunity. It’s all they could talk about.”

Danilov said that if Holmes was released into the general jail population, “he won’t live to see Monday’s court appearance.”

That's some hypocritical form of morality. Some of them are probably in there for the same reason.

Mass murder???? doubtful....there just aren't many of those, and in many of those cases the person is killed, or kill themselves.

I don't know what's more sickening, the act, or the shameless propaganda revolving around it.

From politicians on both sides trying to use it to further their agenda, to people race baiting, saying "if he was Muslim he'd be called a terrorist" implying that because he is white, he is somehow being treated... Differently? Better???

Alright, I know what's more sickening, it's the act itself, but people using this for their own agenda is sickening in its own right.

I think Son of Sam law prevents him from making money off of any book that recounts or glorifies his crime.

I don't think he cares about money. It's the fame aspect of it that makes it unsettling for me.

I haven't heard too many politicians weighing in more than to say that they are sad at what happened and the people of Aurora are in their thoughts...I KNOW that some pundits are using this, that is for sure....and some here have even mentioned that they felt he is being treated differently because he is white....BUT, I think they saying, he is being treated differently by the media...which is possible.

Press conference happening now....

My heart goes to victims families. I don't what else can say or do will bring back their loved ones I think cast and crew should visit them.

The attempts to conceal his identity indicates to me that on some level he felt that he could get away. Mind you, I also think there is a good chance that he was planning to end his own life (suicide through police perhaps, thus the location) and got cold feet.

Yeah he definitely thought he was going to escape. The bomb was supposed to be a diversion so that once it went off at his house all the police would be focused on that while he was shooting up the theater.

Doesnt make sense because he was in and out of the theatre in a minute. Police caught him at his car and were there within a minute.

He wasn't in and out in a minute. He bought a ticket and sat in the front row, at some point before the lights went down and the trailers started...11:45 PM to 12:00 AM, at the latest. Once the lights went down, he appeared to answer a phone call, stepped out of the exit door at the front of the theater (where his car was parked), propped it open with something, then returned, suited up and armed, some 20+ minutes later, after the film had started (according to survivors). He then committed the crimes (shooting for what witnesses said 15-20 minutes), before exiting out the same exit door, where he was apprehended quickly and without incident. He had obviously visited the theater before, knew that door opened to a parking area that was relatively secluded, knew that the door was accessible from inside the theater, and, perhaps most importantly, that the door was not alarmed. So, he had to have been at that theater for at least 40-45 minutes. :csad:

Ugh, what a nut job. Thank God it didn't detonate.

Bale and Oldman have statements about the tragedy:

Bale said:
Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.

Oldman said:
My prayers and deepest sympathies are with the victims and their families of this horrific act.

I'd give you a link but apparently this site censors that site.

A kid I know saw the film last night, and told me "I didn't get shot!" with a chuckle

I immediately commenced to whooping his ass.

Ok not really. But I did give him an exceptionally cold, stern looks with "That's not funny."

I think I made an impact.

I found out today that two people in my area (Illinois, one from my town and another from a nearby town) were in the theater that was attacked. Both are servicemen and one is unaccounted for.

Have been off since this thread since yesterday. Just got back from seeing the movie and it was epic. Not gonna lie, I did pay attention to the exit door quite a bit as the movie started, but that's only because I was being cautious. Plus, the fact we sat in the first 5 rows and I never sit there so I don't like coincidences or to let things slide.

However, i will say I really enjoyed the film. For those that haven't seen it, go and have fun and escape reality for a few hours.

Other than that have there been any other revelations about the shooting?

The booby-trapped apartment of mass shooting suspect James Eagan Holmes was "designed to kill," officials said Saturday as they described a complex operation to disarm sophisticated explosives without destroying evidence.

"This was certainly challenging," said FBI agent Jim Yacone, detailingthe discovery of the explosive devices and the use of a robot to disarm a trip wire and a primary bomb.

"The threat has not been completely eliminated," Yacone said, while adding that enough progress had been made that "an extensive amount of evidence is in the process of being collected."

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told reporters that he believed the rigged apartment targeted the police. “We sure as hell are angry,” he said.

"This apartment was designed to kill whoever entered it," he said. "Make no mistake about it."

That woman that almost walked in that night, she is one lucky girl.....

Now this guy had some problems, boooyyyy.

Police and the FBI are pissed...you know he ain't seeing the light of day.

You know what? **** this little creep. He failed at life, he shot some poor innocent people, and now he will either rot in jail or be put down like a demented dog.

I fail at life all the time. I have had so many let downs and disappointments. I have battled through depression more than once, and survived more than one suicide attempt. After a while, you stop being so self regarding that you imagine that anyone will care. So you just carry on. I work hard in a job for which I am ridiculously over qualified, I pay my taxes. If I see someone vulnerable in difficulty, I help them. I have never, ever, contemplated harming someone else out of frustration or bitterness or regret. I just carry on.

I don't have an ounce of sympathy for this narcissistic little creep. What gives him the right to all this infamy? Screw him. What happened happened, and now he's finished.

This movie, I'm sure, is wonderful, and I look forward to seeing it. I hope to see it with some friends. We might go out for something to eat at my favourite Indian restaurant afterwards. Then we will just carry on.
