Well the more i know haha. Look i agree there is no reason for a civillian to own a magazine like that. Yeah a magazine like that is more convenient but really a civillian doesnt NEED a one hundred round magazine and most cases civillians dont go for them. They are heavy and malfunction. Criminals obviously go for them for capacity and i wouldnt have anything against regulations on these huge capacity mags but 20 round mags i have no problem with. Its a good middle ground. Its not too few rounds and not too many. It allows hunters that have to walk long disgances the ability to carry fewer magazines which helps with weight.

I can agree with that. I've looked at the Beta Mags and considered getting one, but I don't need that. I didn't see the point. They aren't cheap either except for the Korean knock offs. I think 20 round mags are the perfect size and round capacity.

The Internet was first invented for military purposes, and then expanded to the purpose of communication among scientists. The invention also came about in part by the increasing need for computers in the 1960s. During the Cold War, it was essential to have communications links between military and university computers that would not be disrupted by bombs or enemy spies. In order to solve the problem, in 1968 DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) made contracts with BBN (Bolt, Beranek and Newman) to create ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network).

Let's not get off topic which we somewhat have with the anti/pro gun debate.

You're wrong as the Department of Defense is an agency above the US Military... but it's off topic so I'll drop it.

I saw some of the pics from today, and I can't help but feel he's trying just a little too hard to get away with insanity. I really hope he does'nt get away with that plea.

Which do you prefer for him? Death or Exile?

While I do hate the fact that this nutjob had access to unholy amounts of ammunition and weapons so easily, I think that blaming the weapons versus the person who wielded them is not entirely fair. Guns are designed to maim and destroy... the actions of the individual determine WHAT they are to maim or destroy. And if we even put that aside, is it that much different than blaming the movie that might have inspired him to commit these horrible crimes?

It seems like they are painting him to be a Batman fanatic. Who knows, he may have been a member here at one point.
I think as comic book fans we have all dreamed of being our favorite hero or even the villain, but I could never go out and be the Punisher in the real. He was obviously, mentally flawed to act it out like he did.

Not sure if any of you all have seen the pictures released today of him in court, but the guy arguably has the most punch able face Ive seen in a long time.
Seriously, what a ****.

He definitely looked out of it. The first picture I saw of him with the red hair, I thought he looked like Scott Weiland after one of his drug and booze binges.

Seriously, what a ****. I hope he not only gets the death penalty but they'll actually follow through with it and wipe him off the face of the earth for good.

They should allow families of the victims the ability to be the ones to punch said face.

LOL. A walk on the ice is to nice for him.

I love these arugments because it discounts the fact that those items were designed for a different use. There is only one purpose a gun has, death or injury, what is the other purpose of a gun. If you say protection, then yes that's right, protection through death or injury. Please tell me what is the primary function of a gun other than that.

Apples and oranges, truly, the reson why the hijackers of 9/11 got away with their plan was prior to that hijackers landed the plane and made demands. Do you really think the passengers wouldn't have revolted if they knew the true intentions of the hijackers?

I bet you if guns were outlawed, you would see a lot more bombings.

I find that legitament quality minded manufacturers do not make uber high capacity magazines. And id say its both due to possible legal problems and functionality. I could be wrong but its an observation ive had. The good manufacturers and law is trying its best to keep guns reasonable and safe. But you get these knock off cheap companies that sell and import questionable accessories that cause problems.

You have a perfectly valid point however AR-15 magazines only hold 20-30 rounds. As far as i know no manufacturer makes a 100 round magazine. Could be wrong tho. Yes a bolt action is slower but he could still kill people with it. If you are going to scream for the outlaw of a gun based on it being able to shoot 20 bullets in 20 seconds then we must outlaw the bolt action that can shoot 6 bullets in 15 seconds. Point is any gun can kill at least one person so if the real reason for outlawing guns is to save people then all guns should be outlawed. We have already shown that would do more harm than good.

Some states do have magazine capacity regulations. Every american is allowed to bear arms but there are restrictions and each state has their own regulations.

I thought they indicated he had some sort of drum magazine for the AR-15 that had up to 100 rounds. I could have misread that somewhere though. I'm sure someone else might be able to clarify.

It's a Friday night in July, and the kids are out of school. It's a "treat" night, that LOTS of kids and families have been looking forward to for years, literally.

As the parent of a 10-year old, I can say from experience that it's damn near impossible to find a babysitter for midnight-4 am.

Then you don't go. Simple as that. I can probably let the 6 year old slide, but the baby is ridiculous. There's no F-ing way a baby that young should have been at a movie, let alone a midnight showing. It's, frankly, irresponsible and shows a lack of respect for everyone else in the theater. I've been at more movies than I care to count where some jackwad brought their newborn baby to the theater and had them end up screaming through half the movie. I didn't pay $10 to hear your kid scream. I'm sorry you (general "you," not directed at anyone specific) have a child, but part of having a child is sacrifice. If you have to sacrifice seeing a movie you wanted to see at midnight because you don't have a sitter, that's life. Deal with it.

I've been to movies where toddlers were allowed to run up and down the stairs, through the isles, giggling and laughing, playing with the toys they brought in. Again, I didn't pay to watch your kid, I paid to see a movie. If you can't control your kids and respect the people around you then you shouldn't bring them to a movie. Period. I'll happily go rat those people out to the management of the theater. Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine....and yes, I have a 6 month old child and have skipped movies due to no sitter.

rant over......for now....

And I have the right to go out the front door without worrying about getting shot, or having to shoot someone else.

That's everyone's right. But the sad truth is, bad people and bad luck and coincidence don't care about "rights". I know it's cliche, but taking away people's Right to legally defend themselves is in no way going to help your Right to step out your door bullet free. It's terrible, but it's the truth.

It's depressing to see the dredges of the internet starting to sour on this. I guess that grace period where people could express genuine sorrow and horror at what happened. Now I'm starting to read the studied hipster dips**t responses along the lines of, "People need to get over it, I'm, like, tired of being told I should be upset about this, I'm going to ironically rebel against expectation. What's the big deal? It doesn't affect me." And you can't even look at a Man of Steel trailer without some turd posting crap like, "JAMES HOLMES IS A HERO I'M GLAD HE KILLED THOSE PEOPLE." I wish anonymous trolls who write hateful crud like this would be publicly named and shamed, with their face posted up online along with an invitation for people to throat-punch them on sight.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is the truth.

Agreed. Where's Anon when you need em?

Welcome to the internet. Where people can say whatever they want under the guise of anonymity. While I'm sure there are plenty of screwed up people out there that really believe that bile they are posting, most are just idiots looking to stir the pot. In real life they wouldn't dare say something so stupid. Then again, maybe I'm being naive.

Either way, it's sickening.

I read that he initially started shooting the AR-15 with the 100 round drum magazine but it jammed.

The former state senator Russell Pierce, a prominent conservative, says Colorado victims lacked the courage to stop the gunman. Where have I heard this before.......

He's a first class idiot. I'm sure if he was in the exact same scenario his dumb ass would've froze up too.

This is not the time for the GOP--or any other political party--to start insinuating cowardice motives to these victims. :whatever:

Possibly.
Looking at the photo of the outside of the theater (about 2/3 of the way down the page) here, it appears to be a standard 30 round mag in the rifle. Look next to the theater door on the left.
So, he either started with a larger mag or that report of the 100 round mag wasnt accurate.

Mathew McQuinn, one of the Colorado victims was killed trying to shield his girlfriend from gunfire. If that politician doesn't think McQuinn's actions were heroic, he has no idea what a hero is.

Just think of it this way guys and gals.....politicians like that do not deserve to hold office....sooooooo, he just quoted himself right out of office.....adios.

it's coming out that a few men covered their girlfriends to protect them and were shot and killed protecting those they loved.
That doesn't sound cowardice to me at all. McQuinn needs to shut his hole.

No...no...no.....let him talk his way right out of office....:yay:

McQuinn was a victim of the shooting, Russell Pierce was the politician who called them cowards.

That just makes me even more sad about the situation. I can easily imagine doing that myself, and it saddens me deeply. I'm now feeling angry all over again.

I've done the same thing....when I hear some of the stories of the victims, and those that survived....it makes me extremely angry.
