I just heard the story of a teenager, who as he was fleeing he heard a woman cry out to him to help her and her 2 children.....he stopped, crouched down over her to push her two children out the door....he was shot in the leg as he did this....but they all survived....YEAH....that young man is a coward, BY WHO'S STANDARDS...because he didn't have a gun to shoot? People like Pierce are a disgrace to this country.

I also still am appalled that there were young children at a midnight screening of the movie. I'm not blaming the victims... but I do question the actions of the parents bringing their kids to a late movie that will end at 3am.

He's a first class idiot. I'm sure if he was in the exact same scenario his dumb ass would've froze up too.

This is not the time for the GOP--or any other political party--to start insinuating cowardice motives to these victims. :whatever:
One member does not the GOP make.

Sounds like there were a lot of courageous people in that crowd. Hopefully these and other people will let the congressman know how they feel about his comments.

That's the guy who is getting overshadowed by the lady and her boyfriend I believe.

The story goes that the lady and her boyfriend (now her fiance) were at the show with their 3 month old and 4 year old. When the shooting started the boyfriend set the 3 month old down and ran leaving the girlfriend and his two kids behind. The guy you are talking about saved them and the girlfriend had to call the boyfriend to come back and get them (He had gotten in the car and drove off).

The boyfriend then proposed to her at the hospital and she said yes.

The boyfriend and girlfriend were all over the news trying to eat up their 15 minutes where as the guy who saved her didn't get much air time. Sad really. Of course that is all relying on the stories being true, so who knows with today's media.

Well, that's a tough one.....I know of a few kiddos that are not old enough for a PG 13 movie, they are 10 and 11 but would be fine and were fine in the Batman movies....including this one, and its summer, they would probably be at home roaming around at midnight.

As far as the baby, yeah, pretty weird....but babies do sleep through most anything, and they were seated by the exit in case crying became a problem. The 6 year old....hmmmmmm...that one I do question, but I didn't know the little girl, so who knows....

What person, ANYWHERE, even had a thought for a second, that something like this would happen....I wouldn't have....I do now...but I wouldn't have before this.

I have a niece that LOOOOOOVED SCARY MOVIES growing up, the scarier the better....she was taken to quite a few that some might question, but we knew her...and she was fine with them. Other kiddos, no way.

Looks like the defense is going to go for the insanity plea. I don't think they have a case though, this attack looks like it was methodically planned. At 12 o'clock music on a timer turned on in Holme's apartment. The door was left unlocked, and the door was booby trapped. His neighbor almost went in to confront him about the music, but decided not too. Had she gone in, she would have been killed along with many others in the apartment complex. Police would have responded to the bomb, allowing Holmes more time to conduct his assault on the theater, and possibly escape. As the bomb did not go off, police responded directly to the shooting and were able to apprehend him, possibly reloading his weapons at his car.

Methodical planning doesnt really rule insanity but it most definitely will rule out his lawyer trying to claim he isnt competent to stand trial. They love trying that but in this case anyone who can plan something like this can stand before judge and jury.

Wow. Thats calculated for sure.

She said yes to a man who abandoned her and her children in a theater with a homicidal maniac? Why?

On a better note, their is a story of another girl who remained in the theater instead of trying to escape, so she could keep a friend from bleeding to death. Both survived.

Doesn't matter if it was planned or not, that doesn't mean he isn't insane. If he had a dream and hears voices that had him planning this out for a while, then that would be considered insanity.

It will be hard, what I saw today certainly didn't help that case any.....

#1. I would not have allowed the camera to be where my client was almost seen straight on. Most of the time those cameras (cellphones) are over the shoulder of the defendant.
#2. If he was on medication, I would have asked that the medication be lessened before going to court.
#3. He has to be shown that he is competent for trial, and even though he didn't talk....many described him as being sad, and that goes toward him knowing that what he did was wrong...

None of what I saw today helps in the competency or insanity. These are both subject to different times, Competency is at the time of the trial, and insanity, at the time he committed the crime. What I saw today, screws both of those things.....but that is all they have, so they have to go for insanity.

I would not want to be the defense attorney assigned to him. How does she even come up with an argument?

Honestly in cases like this i wish we still had hanging. Criminals of this nature should fear their death not be put under then injected with a chemical. They should be fully conscious and aware that they are dying just as their victims were.

Yeah....that doesn't make ANY sense to me either. That guy should be ashamed of himself. Leaving your girlfriend and children to die by hand of a crazed gunman? It's sickening.

edit - just read that he is saying he was "seperated" from them in the commotion...riiiight.

Public hanging. It was crude, but effective.

And I'm sure this piece of **** will go along with the whole "I'm the Joker" shtick to add further fuel to his laughable insanity plea, even though he couldn't have been bothered to do a quick Google check and see that the Joker's hair is actually green before meticulously planning out this heinous crime.

A public hanging. With the added benefit of letting any wannabe copycats know what there fate will be if they commit a similar crime.

The court room photos definitely look like she does not want to be there. Who knows, though. It's a very high profile case so she might gain some notoriety.

They should just get that chicken lawyer from Futurama to defend this guy.

There is a simpler solution. The other prisoners are making no secret about the fact that they want to kill him if he was released into the general population.

Another thing Im thinking is that after blowing up his place and planning to get away from the theatre, he must have had another place to go to and hide where he probably has more ammo. I think this was just the beginning of other acts but the moron got caught cause he was confident someone was going to open the door.

Supposedly he had bought 6,000 rounds of ammunition in the last few months, so its possible
