This shooting isn't just a tragedy--it is an outrage! And it doesn't matter whatever this degenerate's motives were or whatever insane reason he espouses as to why he did this. 71 people were shot, 12 of them dead because of this madman. He and he alone is responsible for what happened and deserves whatever punishment is fitting for his crimes. Nor should anyone give way to panic or fear because what this sicko did; that's just allowing him a sense of victory and accomplishment for this shooting and we should NOT give him that satisfaction. Right now, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, and that we hope something like this doesn't happen again.

People also know what part of the film was playing when the shooting began. I wonder if the movie does get pulled if there going to re-arrange some scenes.

I meant what are your thoughts on this IF is decided that they pull it from theaters? Do you think it is a good idea? An overreaction/wrong reaction?

I don't see why it would be necessary. The movie didn't cause the shooting. A psychopath did. I don't see what removing it from theaters would even mean... what would be the reasoning behind it?

Total BS. Corporate American studios with their gory/violent movies, huge profits, and sensationalized media aren't going to stop for one isolated shooting in a state that fails to practice gun control.

I don't know, WB was quick to cancel the red carpet premiere they were holding today and all media and press events with Chris Nolan and the cast of the film.

If you want to be a cynic, they might consider it better in the long run to be the american corporation with a heart.

Well they did pull a couple premieres, so always a chance I assume. Still, Ican't see them pulling it completely from theaters, especially since we can't continue to assume this guy did it as influenced by a Batman film. He did this on a plan to get attention. It wasn't violent video game,s it wasn't this or any film, it was purely a young man with problems who knew this movie would have a big crowd and wanted the attention.

God, I've followed this all day since this morning. Im still shocked by it all.

That's totally inappropriate to be complaining about in this context. Fanboys may be annoying but this is something else entirely... a psychotic who created a tragedy.

Don't use this event as your soapbox for stuff like that. Please.

I'm not on a soapbox, I'm stating my view on what I see all the time across the net. My point is that more and more you see news about people being held responsible for their actions online.

The mods can decide whats inappropriate and what's not.

Well let's say hypothetically that this idoit does blame it on the movies and Batman in particular seeing as how he is still alive and this info makes it out to the press. Do you think the movie will be pulled re-edited and put back out with less run time, less action and violence.

It's too late for that. They can't.

I remember ALOT of people thought that the scene in TDK where the Joker is brought in a plastic body bag would get pulled. And it didn't.

And thank God not. That scene was amazing.

But, I don't think the film will be changed or edited at all.

I think the MOST we can, and really ought to, expect of WB is pushing back the release. I don't think they should, I still want to go this weekend to watch it. But, I think your expecting, or want, WB to do something...the most you can expect is this. I think it's absurd for WB to have to change anything with the film at all.

Nope. Nothing in the movie would be to blame. This dude's chemical imbalance is.

No.

People will consider him insane, which my guess is something he'd want.

But there's no change that would happen to the film. That's...impossible. Literally impossible, I believe.

I just saw on the news that Warner Bros. is having a meeting in Hollywood. Nothing is confirmed, supposedly, but that they are considering pulling the film from all theaters this weekend and figure out if it's appropriate to do so and maybe re-release next weekend or in the middle of the week.

NO. I was supposed to see this today but I got stuck at work so I rescheduled for tomorrow. I'm not waiting a week, dammit!! :argh:

Good. Let's hope. Man some folks are just literally dog s**t paint chip crazy now-a-days!

It has been reported that Warners has considered pulling it but decided against it. Honestly though, depending what is said by this nut job, I could see it being pulled and re-released in August.

I don't think the movie will be pulled. There was just a bar shooting in Alabama, a shooting in the Toronto mall, that Gabby Giffords shooting, countless school shootings. These things can happen anywhere.

What they need to do is make sure these back doors can't be opened or left propped open. I thought those kinds of doors had an alarm that started going off once it was left open for a few seconds?

And not to continue some gun debate...but even though I support gun rights, I do wonder why an assault rifle is allowed to be bought. Don't need that for hunting.

Absolutely not.

George Takei posted his thoughts earlier today on Facebook and said it best,

"Many of the victims were fans of sci-fi and fantasy. They stood in line to be the first to see, be inspired and escape. As a community of dreamers, we mourn this terrible tragedy and senseless loss of life."
It's a movie, that's why normal people go to movies. Clearly this guy wasn't normal.

What could he possibly say that would result in the movie being pulled? Besides, the back-lash would be so tremendous, I just can't see it.

Those were my exact thoughts.

NOOOOO!!!!....Well boys and girls, this is a new age we live in sadly enough, things just are not the same as they use to be.

Sad this idiot couldn't keep crazy in his own backyard, he had to ruin lives and take lives in the process.

I fear things will only get worse as speculation, rumors and the media steer the course of what is to come.....

I hate even talking about a movie at a time like this. That being said....Warners will pull it if the Friday numbers are low. It is a sad but true reality of the business. If the numbers are low tomorrow and it looks like they can salvage this with an August re-release, they will pull it. If the numbers are at least steady, it will stay.

Mexico's Premiere on July 23 it's still happening... but they can change their minds thought

Oh, okay, yeah I could see THAT. But on account of all this? No, I just can't.
