An old Nissan van. It won't turn any heads. I view vehicles as a necessary evil, not a source of pride or fun.

Minor Threat's "Straight Edge" would be nice, if they would make me a version without the profanity.

What is your lucky number? 2, I guess.
Any superstitions? Not now. I used to play certain songs before one of my sports teams played, but not in the last 10 years or so.
What kind of cell phone do you have? A motorola.
What's your default ringtone? Some kind of guitar thing. I wanted to get Shawn Michaels' "Sexy Boy" or The theme from the Hulk's 1982 cartoon, but Verizon wanted to charge me $2.99 for a custom. Forget that.

What is the last movie you saw in theatres? Transformers, DOTM. It redeemed the horrendous Revenge of the Fallen but I hope to see a live-action TF reboot in my life which doesn't include *********ion jokes, pot brownies, or BAYSPLOSIONS!!!

When I was younger, I certainly did. It always seemed to be the troglodytes who "got the girl", so to speak. Now that I'm older, I think nice guys are the ones who are more likely to be comfortable with themselves.

What is the weirdest dream you've ever had?

I did have a recurring dream when I was young. I was constantly being chased, usually by a faceless man with a suitcase. I was always tired and found running difficult in these dreams. Then I had a dream where he finally caught me and began holding my head under water. Not a nice feeling, I assure you.

Then I morphed into the protagonist of my novel, Officer Peacechild, and dispensed with my attacker by rising up and burying his head in the ground. I guess my subconscious decided to fight back.

And on that note, if you want to know the kind of weird things about which I dream...Officer Peacechild:

How long have you been in the mental health field?

15 years. I started out working with people who have developmental disabilities, then began working with people with severe mental disturbances.

What is your favorite thing about living where you are?

What is your least favorite thing about living where you are?

Favorites: low crime rate, cold winters/falls

Least: Though I'm on the outskirts of a city, I live on a secluded road near the woods. It took me a long time to get used to the idea of being so close to nature, particularly animals.

Do you believe in karma?

Karma, no. Kharma, yes.

I'll take my kids TOTing and I do like haunted houses and corn mazes.
The only costumes I can recall from childhood (a very long time ago):
Godzilla, Batman, Bugs Bunny, WW2 Solider.

Not yet, but I have about 90% of LK's dialogue commited to memory.

What are your thoughts on schools no longer requiring cursive writing to be taught to students?

Mixed, I guess. It seems like a good skill to have but that's probably just the nearly middle-aged guy mindset. Most paperwork for a job is computerized these days as is a lot of school work. I'm not sure how valuable cursive is, but being able to write legibly is still necessary.

What brought you to the Hype? The need to bash Sam Raimi's choice of Topher Grace as Venom. My wife and coworkers really got tired of my ceaseless tirades.

If cursive is taken out of schools, how will people sign their names?

That's a good point, but I often see people writing in a print-cursive hybrid because of the increasing number of people who can't produce cursive well. This is an interesting subject, I'll have to give it some more thought.
