15 Year Old Dies In Prank Gone Wrong

But you can't just excuse anything just because it's your property. It's understandable to feel fear when there are noises or movements around your house, but that is not at all cause to come out guns blazing. If I am outside at your door knockig on it at 3 am, you have the right to call the cops and wait inside with your gun drawn because I'd be disturbing your peace after hours, but you still have no right to shoot at them. Until the intention for their interaction becomes clear, the only information youre using is the unreliable one of fear. That fear is understandable and warranted, but shooting first and asking questions later is not. It being day or night doesn't matter when it comes to shooting people. It might change your fear level - but that's not a valid reason.
Don't conduct yourself in a way where you make someone fearful. If you make someone fearful...that's your fault.

Bullsh$t..

Don't hurt someone is the bottom line. I'm sorry you're afraid of everything, but thats YOUR fault.

Damn, Charl. I knew you were a little cutthroat, but damn. That's a bit hardcore.

I will defend my home. If you're there when you shouldn't be and you're not invited then you are putting yourself in a position as an agitator/aggressor. That's not my fault. That's YOUR FAULT!!!!

Your home is nothing but bricks and mortar, you're are placing that importance above human life including your own. You're the one choosing to assume the worst, the person who shouldn't be there might have reason that isn't related at all to your home or you at all, they could be escaping some other aggressor for all you know looking for sanctuary. Defend yourself by all means if you are under an attack, but don't assume you will be attacked, it's paranoia and will result in you potentially making mistakes that could frankly screw the lives up of many people. Most people shouldn't care if your house gets robbed, first instinct should be to protect yourself not the property.

Everyone should conduct themselves with responsible behavior. I'm not playing about that.

Yet you said you'd shoot at ANYONE on your property regardless of the situation.

You are what we in the real world call a hypocrite

You mistake the fact I'm not willing to die for home defense. Believe me...if my gun is in my hand I have acknowledged that fact. I am ready to die. The question should be for the person who is on my property.... Are you ready to die?

You would risk ruining your life over property?

Keep in mind, if you shoot a kid who is merely on your lawn, there will be vigilante justice against you. You will be hated and targeted and your life will be screwed.

I don't believe for a second you would shoot without thinking. I think this is all talk.

Then you're foolish.

If you frighten me enough...which means not conducting yourself responsibly...then yes I am willing to risk my life over my property...which I spend great amounts of my life working to maintain and forward.

I would shoot anyone who has put the fear in me to get my gun. Please believe that.

Now...let me say I am a responsible gun owner. I actually have 6 retractable batons in my house in case I can't get my gun. My significant put them in very strategic hiding places incase I can't get to the gun. :cwink:

I think you're a fool...so there.

No, see I'm not willing to put my life on the line for material things. If a loved one or family member is under attack that's when I risk my life. I don't care how hard I may have worked to obtain or build something if I'm having to choose between that and my or some other persons life then I'm choosing life. So I'm not a fool, I'm taking the logical option. No amount of blood and sweat in regards to building or maintaining what amounts to nothing more than bricks, timber, metal and glass is going change that. If you're placing so much emphasis on the property and not life then I won't feel sorry for you in the event something bad comes to pass, because you're choosing to place material nonsense above all else. Only a fool dies for their property.

Property can be replaced, life cannot.

Lol....I'd like to see how you'd react if someone broke into your home. Obviously...from the sounds of it...

Well...I won't go there. Good luck to you.

Property can be replaced, life cannot.

Then respect your OWN life. Don't be a dumb ASS.

I would look to escape. Seems like a reasonable response.

What does putting fear in you entail? Apparently its dark.

Hilarious. You are TERRIFIED. the fence and castle you've built have pretty much confirmed your paranoia.

Escape from MY OWN HOME.............. :whatever:

Seriously...you people are the crazy ones.

I struggle to see how that's a concept that is hard to grasp. Your home is under threat in some way placing you in danger, you exit the home in an attempt to avert said danger. Seems pretty black and white to me.

If I feel and want to confront the danger in MY HOME.... I WILL. :yay:

Charl, i'm sorry if what i'm about to say is going to offend you...

You mentioned before that you've had a bad experience with this home invasion stuff, yes?

It's very likely that that's the reason why you feel so strongly about this. I dunno what happened, and you don't need to tell us...but maybe you've not really gotten over the experience. Making your house into a fortress...hidden weapons...that's a worrying signals, Charl.

Oh, believe me. I'm scared to go into your zip code!

Also, it's nice to see how little you respect the lives of others. I can see you someday making a fatal mistake. Maybe one of your kids or a niece/nephew comes to your house, it's late but they need your help for something but, it's after dark so, BLAM!
