15-Year-Old Wrestling Thread is STOKED That Shawn Michaels Kicked It in the Face

Simply put, Vince left a lot of Money on the table with the Invasion angle because of his own ego.

Buried WCW/ECW and I wouldn't be surprised if a huge part of the reason the Wrestling world took a hit is because a lot of fans were angry about the burial of those companies.

Especially considering how much nostalgia makes up their DVD sales.

Is this recent? Looks like Ryder's been packing on the pounds...

The Invasion Angle began with a bang and ended with a whimper. I wonder what it would have been like if they had delayed the beginning of that storyline, by maybe a few months or half a year, so they could have gotten Flair, Steiner, Goldberg and maybe even the NWO on it.

Didn't help that those guys eventually came in after the angle ended.

I remember when they tried making the last 30 min of Raw as a promo for a weekly WCW show under the WWF banner and it failed so miserably that Spike wouldn't back it. I'm sure that forced them to accelerate the Invasion angle instead of doing a faux brand war for a year straight.

Apparently there is a report on wrestlezone that AJ has resigned with TNA and his leaving is a work right now.

If it is, then this is smart booking by TNA and they're working everybody.

Does anyone think the Idea to make ECW/WCW align was dumb?

I say that because anyone with a fraction of ECW knowledge would know that Paul Heyman and hardcore ECW fans HATE Eric Bischoff AND WCW. I always thought that was ridiculous that they even aligned.

He said on his twitter that he's carbo loading or something to gain weight and prepare for getting some more muscle or something.

We noted earlier this week here on DWN that word going around backstage at Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view was that CM Punk is penciled in to feud with new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton in early 2014.

The other Punk related talk going around at TLC was that the company is planning on pushing Punk as the anti-corporate Superstar once again.

If WWE decides to go in that direction, it would be a stopgap to Punk’s program at WrestleMania XXX.

While the dream match against Steve Austin is still something WWE officials would like to have happen, there has been more consideration towards a program with Daniel Bryan as of late, as we noted here on DWN. One of the biggest things Punk has been frustrated with lately is the lack of long-term booking in regards to his character.

Many fans were surprised when WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee didn’t drop her title to Natalya at Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view, just after the news came out about her incident with Michelle Beadle at the Tribute to the Troops tapings last week.

Word from Monday’s RAW is that Vince McMahon is a “huge” supporter of AJ and was largely behind the immediate protection of her following this incident. This is why there was no punishment at TLC or RAW for the Beadle incident.

Well.... I guess Vince isn't completely insane. :o

Such a misfire when they brought in ECW just to be lackeys for the alliance. They did nothing with Tommy Dreamer. They somehow knew less what to do with Mike Awesome than WCW did. Raven and Justin Credible spent most of their time jobbing as a team. Lance Storm had the transitional IC reign then spent the rest of his time tagging with Hurricane. Rhino was just hired muscle. And Tazz's in ring career was on its last legs. The only ECW guys who had any prominence were the Dudley's and RVD.

They could of been a guerrilla faction, beating up WWF and WCW guys alike. Rhino coming out through the crowd with the ECW title, throwing out open challenges for anyone to take it.

The Whole Invasion angle is one of the biggest letdowns that WWE had done. We could fill several threads on what went wrong with it.

It's a Goldmine of missed opportunities and dumb moves, probably more so than the disbandment of WCW and the fall of NWA combined. :o

MAn, Mike Awesome, you'd think Vince would gush over a guy like him. He was that one rare big guy who would do cruserweight type moves. And still dominate with power.

Speaking of big guys who can do Crusierweight moves, when we WWE start to get a look at Willie Mack?

Apparently there is a report on wrestlezone that AJ has resigned with TNA and his leaving is a work right now.

I saw a similar report, where the two sides have either resumed negotiations or, as you said, have already reached an agreement. In this case, he has taken these other bookings with TNA's blessing in order to continue working the public. We'll see!

I've always wondered this as well. If perhaps Vince could have secured a tv deal for WCW (or maybe given them Smackdown), shown some patience by keeping the brands separate for a while, and waited to begin the Invasion angle until AFTER he was able to sign some of the WCW stars. Especially since he ended up signing them all anyway, in particular Ric Flair who showed up on Raw THE DAY AFTER the Invasion angle ended!!! (Ugh...I was glad to see him, and his segment with Vince was fantastic but, on the other hand, I was SO frustrated...Flair's presence could have added a LOT to the Invasion storyline)

The Invasion is my biggest disappointment as a wrestling fan. It should have been the biggest angle in pro wrestling history, but instead it was Vince's tribute to his own ego.

What happened between AJ and MIchelle Beadle?

She said to Punk "Hey f**kface!", just messing around. AJ went to her later and told her to show some respect. When WWE officials found out about it, they were none to pleased with her because celebs are treated like gold backstage. That's what led to Punk's tweet about the company not practicing the same as it preaches.

Imagine if that last Survivor Series 5 vs. 5 match had Rock, Austin, Jericho, Undertaker and Big Show vs. Booker, RVD, Flair, Steiner and DDP (he deserved to be on that level, not in the stupid battle royal match).

Could've been the biggest storyline ever that we'd still talk about to this day, but Vince blew his load too soon.

Definitely, especially if Steiner called Big Show during the match.
