Holiday episodes must always suck. It's an unwritten rule in pro wrestling.

*Spoilers* WWE Main Event Tapings Results (Photos)

Published On December 17, 2013 | By Michael Bluth | WWE News

WWE taped this week’s episode of WWE Main Event tonight from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Here are full results:
WWE Main Event (Airing On Ion Television):
* Mick Foley opens the show dressed as Santa Claus. He wishes the crowd a Merry Christmas before being interrupted by Curtis Axel & Ryback.

Ryback says he hates Santa and and calls him fat. The Miz comes out to even the odds. Miz and Foley Claus sing a Christmas carol together, changing the lyrics to reference Ryback and Axel. Santa Foley announces Miz will wrestle Curtis Axel later in the show, with Foley in Miz’s corner and Ryback in Axel’s.
* R-Truth & Xavier Woods defeated Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre
* Divas Champion AJ Lee defeated Kaitlyn

* The Miz w/Foley Claus defeated Curtis Axel w/Ryback.

Agreed, especially in ROH. After those awesome matches with the King of Wrestling, Haas and Benjamin got really lazy.
They figured they could get over on name recognition alone. Haas, as much as I liked him, was a piss poor talker and lacked character. Benjamin got comfortable being Uncharismatic Generic Flippy Wrestler #12434234, and that can easily be replaced.

This sounds horrible.

We noted earlier this week here on DWN that word going around backstage at Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view was that CM Punk is penciled in to feud with new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton in early 2014.

The other Punk related talk going around at TLC was that the company is planning on pushing Punk as the anti-corporate Superstar once again.

If WWE decides to go in that direction, it would be a stopgap to Punk’s program at WrestleMania XXX.

This seems contradictory, if he's just starting his anti-authority push I don't see how they can wrap it up in time for him to have a different program for Mania, especially given the guy he'll be going at is Triple H, that's not a feud you can use as a stopgap IMO.

While the dream match against Steve Austin is still something WWE officials would like to have happen, there has been more consideration towards a program with Daniel Bryan as of late, as we noted here on DWN. One of the biggest things Punk has been frustrated with lately is the lack of long-term booking in regards to his character.

I can understand Punk's frustration, first he gets lumbered with Ryback and Axel, then he gets bounced from The Wyatt's to The Shield and he has to be looking at the ever advancing Road to Mania and wondering where he stands as regards the main event. As for Bryan vs Punk, they could steal Mania but they'd never be allowed to go on last.

Many fans were surprised when WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee didn’t drop her title to Natalya at Sunday’s TLC pay-per-view, just after the news came out about her incident with Michelle Beadle at the Tribute to the Troops tapings last week.

Word from Monday’s RAW is that Vince McMahon is a “huge” supporter of AJ and was largely behind the immediate protection of her following this incident. This is why there was no punishment at TLC or RAW for the Beadle incident.

It seems there was more to this than the original reports suggested, but AJ is still fortunate to have the most powerful man in the industry as a supporter.

Agreed. He just became another guy.

y'know what I'm excited for??

the fact that WWE 2k15 will probably be the 1st next-gen wrestling game!!

hopefully the PS4 and X1 will allow them to take the series to new heights and innovation!!

not really a fan of wrestlers coming out of retirement, especially when a big deal was made of the retirement in the 1st place.

I agree but if its to put over rising talent I don't feel that bad. If he was coming back to face Cena, HHH, or even Punk I would be a bit let down. The history with HBK/Bryan is undeniable and I feel Bryans rise to the top will be cemented with a win over HBK.

Plus I don't see HBK coming out to face Bryan unless he put Bryan over and was guaranteed that Bryan wouldn't beat HBK just to be shoveled back to the bottom of the totem pole. I think HBK knows what a win over him at WM would do for any rising stars career and he wouldn't do just to have that person be de-pushed.

I guess I'd be fine with that.

Ultimately, Bryan NEEDS to win the championship and have a successful run as champ for awhile. Otherwise, there would have been 0 payoff to the storyline.

I'd like to see a Bryan/HBK match but not at WM. I refuse to accept anything less than Daniel Bryan in the main event at WM30.

They can fight at Elimination Chamber (provided Bryan wins the Rumble and needs something to do in the PPV in between).

Half the time retirement matches are ********. Ask Terry Funk. :o

Considering that Yukes is still the developer, it's more likely to be more of the same.

If HBK came out of retirement for a match it would only be for WrestleMania, no other PPV.

2K will have way more control than for 2K14 and they put in way more effort than THQ did in their games plus have a much bigger budget and quality production.

They already started showing their power over the THQ team now working for 2K
