1992 McDonalds Returns Promotion

Okay, here it is. These are the items that are in my collection from the Batman Returns McDonalds promotion. There are some things I do not have but I do speak about them later in the thread. Again, I hope you guys enjoy looking at this stuff and for those who can remember, enjoy the nostalgia, for those who were too young or not born yet (lol), just imagine walking into a McD's with this stuff plastered everywhere. Cool times.


First, of course, is the toys that were available in the Happy Meals:

Now, overseas there were straws with figurines attached to the ends of them.


Next are the 6 plastic cups with their "frisbee" lids:

There were actually 2 different styles of these cups. Both styles had the same pictures, but one set had a beveled bottom while the other set went straight down.


These were the counter top displays used to showcase the cups:

There was also a 6' standee that featured Keaton in the Returns suit and there were slots that held all 6 of the cups. I actually had purchased one but the seller basically stole my money and I was left with nothing. Thanks ebay.

There were 4 of these giant banners. Batman, Penguin, Catwoman, and one with Gotham City. There were only 40 sets of these made and from my understanding, franchise owners had to buy these if they wanted them. Most were only on the west coast. They are about 7' tall and 3' wide. I have Penguin:

There is also a sheet of coupons that featured the Returns logo. I know a person who has a load of these, but he refuses to give any up. I'm always on the lookout for the items I dont have.

It's all practically brand new and amazing to look at.

Brings back some great nostalgic moments. I still own a few of those happy meal toys and cups.

wow, that penguin poster is so awsome, it actually looks creepy and sweeny todd-ish. so glad that burton didnt give a crap and just made batman and his villians dark and demented. nowadays they are making batmans villians serious and creepy once again and getting praise for it! back then, it was the exact opposite, ppl and moms getting upset that this "superhero movie" is too dark and twisted for there young ones. its funny cuz the film was so dark and graphic, and here they are promoting the killer penguin as a kids meal character, thats quite disturbing! and i HAD those cups, or at least maybe 1 or 2 of them, my mom probably got them one time. i do remember the catwoman cup, i remember look at it for a long time, because those paintings on the cups were done so well. its so cool that they had a cup with the selena/bruce wayne dancing at the ballroom scene, that is so cool. you forget just how big these movies were back then, but i wish i was old enough to enjoy all this back then, but i was only 5 when Returns came out. i did have i think all of those Returns mcdonalds toys as well, wish i still had them!

Shadow your collection never ceases to amaze me damn I wish I had an actual house so that I could have space for a collection like that. I still have the Penguin and Bat Ski Boat happy meal toys as well as 2 Batmobiles. I remembered those banners we had all 4 here in Manhattan outside my local Mickey D's. I remember the commercials for the promotion too and that nasty ass pizza lol I feel like I just hopped off the wayback machine and am 9 years old again. BR merchandise rarely gets any love. Remember all the Applause merchandise? I had a lot of those from the mini figurines to the 12 inch figures and even keychains. I'd like to see a thread on that stuff I'm sure the avid collector that you are you got to have a lot of that stuff in your batcave.

On another merchandising note, my General Mills rep was in today informing me about their big promotion for TDK. Its funny that it was also announced on this site today as well. Anyway, Im a Dairy Manager and we did a huge SpiderMan display and prmotion last year, she knows Im a huge Batman fan so she couldnt wait to hear my ideas about what we can do with this. I cant wait to get the point of sale for this promtion. Also with the Got Milk? promotion my Dairy aisle is gonne be Gotham City this summer!

I have some things for the Forever promtion, not as much, but some cool things none the less. Ill have to dig those out.

As for the Taco Bell B&R promotion, no. I have the cups and afew of the animated toys they did along side with it. I was offered an entire store display package by a fellow collector that included all the Taco Bell B&R stuff. The window clings, banner, shirts, ceiling danglers, everything. He wanted $200 for all of it. I passed.
