Oh yeah...and then there is the upcoming Xbox arcade with motion control :)

The first rumor states that the GTA IV downloadable content will be coming out in November, and it will add roughly 15 hours of additional play time.
I believe that, not only because the DLC has to come out this year, but, after paying $50 million(?), it needs to be something big, not only one or two more missions.

Gearbox is making Halo 4 as a launch title for next Xbox.
Gearbox rocks!!
OK, anyone that had read what Randy Pitchford (CEO and President) wrote back in February in Gearbox forums, had already realised that there was 50% of chances he was working on Halo 4: "I've started a new project. It's big. It's, like, look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger kind of big. I'm Directing it myself. I can't mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one."
When i read that (pure coincidence i went to the Gearbox site back in Feb) i was positive it was Halo 4, guess i was right (if the rumor is right).
At least, that´s the rumor in october issue of Official Xbox Magazine.

next Xbox?... isnt that 3 or 4 years away?

More like 2 years. Each console has a life of about 5 years, making the next box in 2010.

I refuse to purchase another Xbox until 10 years pass on my current one.

It's just way too much money for someone like me to invest in every 5 years. Considering I've still gotta get a PS3 too....

Did you own a PS2 or original Xbox? If so, it's been less than 10 years since those came out and you've already replaced them.

If you had an original Playstation, then bought/got a PS2 again, it was less than 10 years between system releases.

For the longest time I kept hearing that GTA IV stuff was going to come out in August, but it was only going to be 3 extra missions tops. But 15 hours extra sounds much better. The game already has high replay value, but DLC wouldn't hurt it. And whoever doesn't own the game will surely pick it up by this point for the new stuff.

So Xbox Magazine has the rumor of Halo 4 in it?? I haven't received my last two issues of Game Informer to see if they had any. I was more pissed that Microsoft canceled the last minute announcement at E3. We all knew it was about Halo 4, but for some reason they are holding off. E3 '09 maybe?? Or is there something else coming up that they'll announce this and the name of the next Xbox system?

well i've grown to love my xbox so much i would probably upgrade shortly after the launch of a new system.

but i should make it be known Halo 4 would not be what sells me the next xbox.

Give it time to get it's kinks worked out...a new version of RROD?

I"m sure the first wave of these will have trouble written all over them.

that's why i said shortly after launch. i wouldn't get a launch system, that's for sure.

No. Microsoft cancelled Bungie's showing. They're making a Halo game, but it's not "Halo 4". Supposedly Gearbox is making Halo 4, although I highly doubt that. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they were making a game set in the Halo universe, but it's definately not Halo 4. In fact, I don't think we'll ever see a game with "Halo" and "4" together in the title.

No. Microsoft and Bungie have said that their new game will be unveiled at what they're calling, " a dedicated event". As for the next Xbox, I wouldn't count on hearing about that until 2010 at the earliest.

I really, really doubt that. There's no way in hell Microsoft wants a repeat of the RROD issue. The next Xbox will be tested and retested and tested some more.

If it wasn't for the RROD Microsoft would have sold a lot more units than they already have and they know this. I'm sure the next Xbox will be incredibly reliable.

My brothers 360 just got three lights o death, im kinda pissed cause i just rented mercenaries 2 and bad company.

I agree that they'll try to avoid it, but intentions and actions don't always match up. They had the RROD problem this time because they rushed the console out of the door. They wanted to beat Nintendo and Sony to the market by a year. So it really depends on if they give the new console (Phoenix I believe) the time it needs to be tested. If they try to push it out a year or two earlier than the next Nintedo console and PS4 then they could have the same problems.

At any rate it's always best to not buy a console right after launch. Give it a few months or half a year (what I did with the PS3), and wait for complaints first.
