The lakers had way too much turmoil to overcome that series. Kobe free agency, Kobe Rape case, Kobe not passing the ball, Kobe and Shaq hated each other, Phil Jackson retirement, Malone sleeping with Kobe wife, Malone injury, No Robert Horry, Medvenko was playing, etc....Yes the lakers lost the series but they lost not because the pistons were the better team but because all that turmoil and drama! I dont care who you are, theres no way to overcome those distracgtions!

Offends my sense of justice. Not that Kobe probably deserves her either.

As for that series: The Pistons were better because Kobe tore that team apart.

As for this year: Congrats to the Miami Heat, they were the better team.

This thing seemed to have been destined for Game 7 from the start. Neither team is able to take charge of the series. Dallas is making a good run right now in the 3rd, but I think Phoneix will be due for a surge later on.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our NBA Finals. Representing the West, it's the Dallas Mavericks, Representing the East, it's the Miami Heat! Both teams deserve to be in the Finals and it looks like it'll be a great match-up. Although Dallas beat Miami both times they played, this Heat team in the playoffs is leves above the regular season team. But with Dallas, you have Dirk playing better than anyone in the league right now. In the end, I'm taking the Heat in 6.

Dallas Mavericks in the championship for the first time in history!

What a great accomplishment and now I'm sure they've silenced the critics, as no one thought they could do it, especially mush mouth Charles who went out of his way to bad mouth Dallas all the time.

I'm so happy right now, it's a surreal feeling. I've always known this day would come eventually it's just I never knew when it would arrive.

I say Dallas in either 5 or 6. I don't think the Heat can beat Dallas in a 7 Game series.

A lot of people dropped off this thread when they're team got booted. I guess they lost all interest in posting here after that.

Heatians kicking booty aside, I've enjoyed the whole playoffs. This has been the best run for the League in a LONG time.

I bet everyone thought this would be a game 7 with the 18 point lead, but Dallas pulled it off. Suns just got tired in the second half and couldn't keep up with the Mavs. Congrats Mavs, I hope I'll be able to buy some tickets in the morning. I can't express how happy I am right now.

Agreed, for me it was nice to see the emergence of Lebron, the redemption of Kobe, Dallas playing defense, the clippers getting major respect, and of course the best part of the season is the miami heat going to the finals.

This was definitely a great year for the NBA in terms of the playoffs.

I'm happy to see Dallas make it to the championships for the first time and actually happy to see the Heat do it for the first time.

Although this won't be the first championship finals for Shaq or Gary Payton.

You nailed everything else though. I hope this kinda action carries over into future seasons. I'm actually excited about the NBA as a whole for the first time in a long time.

Man that was an amazing draft class. I asked that because Wade was asked how it would feel to be the first out of that draft to win a title and I think they forgot to mention that Howard has a chance to be the first as well.(no way Im counting Darko)

Great game last night, I was kind of ready to change the channel when the Mavs started getting a boot in the ass in the first half. Glad I didn't.

Dallas and Miami, a decent matchup I guess. I picked Dallas midway through the season to win it all, but I wouldn't mind the Heat picking up the trophy.
