TheAlmightyFuzz said:That's just ridiculous, pretty much every coach is as good as the players they have. Phil Jackson usually had a ready made team. Doc Rivers wasn't always without talent so that doesn't work either. They got a coach that addressed their main problem.
Coaches work to find the best out of there players and give them direction. In the 90's it was easy for Hill to coach Orlando, run the half court offense throw it in to Shaq in the paint and if double teamed kick it out to Penny, Nick or 3-D out on the perimeter. That was fine for home games(they went like 76-6 over 2 seasons at home) and to get you 50 wins but remember those Magic teams never had a coach to help that young team have the mental toughness to win on the road (hence why they used to stuggle). And of course he had no authority over Penny and Shaq( Hence Shaq going to LA and Penny leading the player revolt). But it was his struggles in Vancouver that sealed it and he had some good players there like Abdur Rahim and Mike Bibby and Micheal Dickerson but they couldn't win. Who knows maybe Coach Hill picked up on some things as assistant in NJ but who knows?
