Wow things are building up already for 2009 and 2007 just started. Here's a list of some of the biggies so far on the list for 2009:

  • Green Hornet
  • Captain America
  • Ant-Man or Avengers (one of these)
  • Wolverine (if not in 2008)
  • Escape from New York (remake w/Gerard Butler)
  • Avatar (James Cameron)
  • Gears of War
  • Monsters vs Aliens
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4
  • Superman: The Man of Steel
2010 already has lined up:

  • Shrek 4
  • Toy Story 3
Universal's Namor should be coming in 2009/2010 time frame as well as Luke Cage, Spider-Man 4 (2010), FF3, Ghost Rider 2, and more.

There's just so many movies coming out some of these studios are going to have to consolidate and merge and put out fewer releases of better quality. 2007 is probably the last year where there's not "too many" big releases. 2008 is ridiculous and with everyone climbing over one another to grab key release dates in May and during the Holidays we're gonna see some of these big films spread out into non-traditional release dates like Ghost Rider and 300.

I'll keep adding more to this list as it builds up. Yeah it's early but it's fun looking ahead to the future to see the landscape.

Cool thread, but how can you say this year isn't big?

POTC: AWE, Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Fantastic Four 2, Transformers, Die Hard or Live Free, Aliens vs Predator, an alot of other great films.

This is going to be a great year.

I didn't see this year wasn't big...it's just not as overcrowded as 2008 and 2009 are becoming. There's room this Summer while next year every freaking weekend has two big releases.

Here's a list of some of the biggies so far on the list for 2009:

  • Green Hornet (Meh)
  • Captain America (Yay!! My fav for 2009. It should be everyone's fav)
  • Ant-Man or Avengers (one of these) (Ant-Man: Ok, cause it's Marvel)
  • Wolverine (if not in 2008) (Another yay! 2nd Fav or depends on the Supe2 movie)
  • Escape from New York (remake w/Gerard Butler) (Meh, so 80's)
  • Avatar (James Cameron) (WTH?)
  • Gears of War (Could be tripe without a good budget. Because SFX is the only thing that could save it)
  • Monsters vs Aliens (Wuuuh?)
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4 (Meh, another so 80's)
  • Superman: The Man of Steel (hope it's going to have plenty of action and less of girlie materials)
2010 already has lined up:

  • Shrek 4 (Die already, Shrek! Stop the milking)
  • Toy Story 3 (Good for my yet to be born son, I hope)
  • Thor (please. If there's only 1 Marvel movie to be made in 2010, this should be it. It'll complete all the major chars movies)

My wish is simple: 2009 for Cap and Wolvie, 2010 for Thor, Deadpool and Black Panther. Everything else is gravy.

  • Green Hornet
  • Im interesting in this film
  • Captain America
  • Should be awsome!
  • Ant-Man or Avengers (one of these)
  • Ant-Man? I've never read the comic book and Im not excited at all about this film.
  • Wolverine (if not in 2008)
  • Should be awsome.
  • Escape from New York (remake w/Gerard Butler)
  • Should be awsome
  • Avatar (James Cameron)
  • I dont know much about this film, but from what little I've heard it sounds awsome!
  • Gears of War
  • I can't wait! This should be a great movie!
  • Monsters vs Aliens
  • I havnt really heard anything about this flick other than its a Dreamworks picture.
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4
  • Meh.
  • Superman: The Man of Steel
  • Yes! I loved Superman Returns and this one will be have alot more action, which means it should be GREAT.
2010 already has lined up:

  • Shrek 4
  • Meh
  • Toy Story 3
  • Meh

Fantastic Four 3, should be awsome.

Well, thats what I think about those movies, but remember this is 2 or 3 years away.

I started the 2008 threads in 2006 and it's kind of fun looking ahead. Some studios are gonna get hurt real bad in there.

I doubt Green Hornet will ever be made...

2009 The Avengers..announced. This would be huge if they can get the orginal stars to play the characters. Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Thor(?r), Captin America(?), Antman(?) Radioactive Man(?). This would have to be a pretty big buget film for all these big names plus special effects.

If there is an avengers movie I want the traditional Avengers no meaning no Wolverine or Spider-man

Magneto has no date yet. Wolverine will go first and that's in 2009 most likely. It'd guess Magneto is a 2010 film.

Some of my Avengers casting thoughts

Black Panther - Michael Jai White(Universal Soldier: The Return, Spawn)
Radioactive Man - Rick Yune(Fast and the Furious) or Daniel Dae Kim(Lost)
Apocalypse - Vin Diesel
Loki - Jim Carrey
Wasp - Kristin Kreuk(Smallville)
Ant Man - Nathan Jones(Troy 2004)
Black Widow - Jessica Biel
Ms. Marvel - Stacey Keilber(WWE)
Spider-Woman - Evangeline Lilly(Lost)
Nick Fury - Collin Farell?

Why the Hell is Radioactive Man an Avenger all of a sudden?

And Evangeline Lilly is Wonder Woman IMO. Spider-Woman doesn't really have a place in an Avengers film IMO, should stick with:

Cap
Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Ant-Man
Black Widow
Nick Fury (Sam Jackson NO DOUBT)

And Matt321 - Nathon Jones for Ant-Man? Are you insane?

Why even bother making a Green Hornet film? Most of the characters from that era have a hard time with modern audiences, with the obvious exceptions of Superman and Batman.

There's a reason why characters like The Phantom, The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Sheena, and so forth all bombed (and can barely sustain a comic book following today):

They're a bit lame.

"And Evangeline Lilly is Wonder Woman IMO"
I read that they are looking for a 25 year old(when production starts) who's height is between 5'9-5'11. Evangeline Lilly will be 29 next year and is 5'4-5'5. Are you insane?:whatever:

Not really, because she looks the part, has done some action in Lost, and can easily be made to look taller. Age isn't really as issue, seeing how Tom Welling plays a 19/20 year old Clark Kent and is pushing 30. Considering Nathan Jones has NO acting tallent whatsoever, wasn't allowed to cut promo's when he was in WWE, and you want him to play Ant-Man? Dude, if you like bad acting fine, but considering the quality of actors Marvel is going for, you're going to be disapointed

Enter Thor and probably Escape from NY. :)

One more unknown Marvel film now for 2009. Will it be Cap, Nick Fury, Ant-Man???

2009 wont be pretty at the box office...

Don't forget "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the box office champ of 2010.

I doubt Harry Potter will own the Box office in 2010 domestically. There's like no chance of that. Internationally a better chance. Once 2010 films line up you'll see why.

What other films in 2010 have a chance against it?

There's a huge list of properties that haven't picked dates yet. Potter isn't even hitting 300 million this year. I think that audience is saturated around where it is though inflation will keep things a bit in check. Something will come out that's fresh and shock people be it a Cameron film, a new Pixar film, Spider-Man 4 (cough cough). Or something else.

Well, the Cameron film is coming in 2009 and Spidey 4 is scheduled for 2009. As for Pixar, Harry Potter has faced Ratatouille just this summer and made more money at the box office.

Spidey 4 is schedule for 2009? I doubt that. LOL No chance of that happening. It's 2010. If Spidey 4 was in 2009 they'd be doing some filming already. Remember how early Raimi was prepping part 3 with second units. Keep in mind the contracts for everyone is all up excpet maybe Topher. They're gonna recast it I'd bet otherwise they would have taken more time with Spidey 3's storyline. They need to freshen up the franchise anyways and get some new blood in it for the next 3-5 films.

Yeah Spidey 4 will be 2010. Probably another Pirates film too.
