2009 & Beyond...Box Office Competition

I didn't see this year wasn't big...it's just not as overcrowded as 2008 and 2009 are becoming. There's room this Summer while next year every freaking weekend has two big releases.

2007 actually is the best year for blockbusters in term of box office. Right now, it has four movies, which made more than $300m, three movies with opening weekend over $120m in one month and eight blockbusters, which didn't fail.

But I don't like the idea of making thread about box office of 2008 and especially 2009, because it doesn't make sense to exist. We have about five months before the next year begins, it's enough time to learn more about other movies.

Well some of like to talk about films coming out in advance next year and later. If you're not interested...then nobody has a gun to your head forcing your to participate. There shouldn't be a restriction on what movies we can talk about because you're not interested in it.

True, I must admit you're right. But still, isn't it too early for thinking about 2009/2010? :) We have two years to complete our predictions.

Wow things are building up already for 2009 and 2007 just started. Here's a list of some of the biggies so far on the list for 2009:

  • Green Hornet
  • Captain America
  • Ant-Man or Avengers (one of these)
  • Wolverine (if not in 2008)
  • Escape from New York (remake w/Gerard Butler)
  • Avatar (James Cameron)
  • Gears of War
  • Monsters vs Aliens
  • Beverly Hills Cop 4
  • Superman: The Man of Steel
2010 already has lined up:

  • Shrek 4
  • Toy Story 3
Universal's Namor should be coming in 2009/2010 time frame as well as Luke Cage, Spider-Man 4 (2010), FF3, Ghost Rider 2, and more.

There's just so many movies coming out some of these studios are going to have to consolidate and merge and put out fewer releases of better quality. 2007 is probably the last year where there's not "too many" big releases. 2008 is ridiculous and with everyone climbing over one another to grab key release dates in May and during the Holidays we're gonna see some of these big films spread out into non-traditional release dates like Ghost Rider and 300.

I'll keep adding more to this list as it builds up. Yeah it's early but it's fun looking ahead to the future to see the landscape.

Isn't Spielberg's Interstellar due out in '09?

Why the Hell is Radioactive Man an Avenger all of a sudden?

I don't know.

Wait, are you talking about this guy?

spidey 4 is pointless, 3 sucked ass. and an ant-man movie is dumb as hell. might as well watch "honey, i shrunk the kids"

Spidey 4 is not pointless...your post was pointless. There is 50 years of history and stories to tell w/Spidey and we've only seen one vision of the franchise. I can't wait for new blood, new directors, and new actors to have fun with it. Edgar Wright is Gold...period. Ant-Man could be fun but it's not a film to bring in 300 million domestic. It's not for everyone and not every film should be. That's why YOU have a choice on what you want to see. Don't acts as if your opinion is a blanket we all live under. Yuck.

There are holes in my blanket at least to keep the air fresh. :) Don't ask me for what though.
