2010 College Football Thread: As The BCS Turns

I won the Bowl Pick 'Em against some stiff competition...all three of you. So, this is my reward!

Storylines:

BCS
Who will be screwed by the BCS the hardest by the end of the year? Will the BCS' Twitter account be the subject of ongoing hacks and chicanery?
Will the courageous band of rebels, led by Arlen Specter Skywalker and Orrin Hatch Solo, strike a death blow to the evil National BCS Empire, headed by Emperor Fatcat and Darth Jackass?

'Bama
Can Alabama repeat as champs? Can they run the table in the SEC and remain undefeated? If they win, will K-Mart host their next championship party? Can Nick Saban improve his acting abilities in time for The Blind Side 2?

Lane Kiffin to Southern Cal
Can Lane "Meet My Hot Wife" Kiffin keep up the level of talent after the NCAA curb-stomps the program with sanctions? Will Daddy Monte create a soul-crushing defense in California? How many NCAA secondary violations will Lane Kiffin receive this year? Most important of all... Song Girls as "hostesses"?!

Urban Meyer and UF
With Meyer on the bench for...who knows how long, can Florida keep up their high level of play? Will the absence of Meyer and Tebow allow other SEC East teams to level the playing field? (Please, God, yes!) When Urban Meyer makes his inevitable return to the sideline in Gainesville, will it occur mid-game and signaled by theme music, allowing a broadcaster to exclaim "Good God Almighty, that's Urban Meyer's music!!!"?


Boise State
With a strong returning roster and a high ranking in the opening polls, this year looks to be the make-it or break-it year for the Non-BCS school.

Heisman '10
With Mark Ingram back next year, who else will compete with him in the Heisman Trophy race?

Mark Mangino
Where will the portly coach be headed? To a Florida school? If so, will his habit of suntanning cause beach patrons to think he's a beached manatee? Or can he and Phillip Fulmer finally start work on their sitcom, The Blubber Brothers?

I really think the NCAA needs to change it's trasnfer policy in which a clause exists that if the coach of your school that recruited you leaves, you are allowed to transfer to another school without incurring the sit out a year penalty.

I'm Mister J. You may know me as the author of a deluge of PM reminders in the SHH! NFL Pick 'Em Contest, numerous smart-aleck (and/or self-serving) responses across the forum, my incessant insistence on maintaining a Joker-themed profile or possibly as the of perpetrator of an infraction that you were cited. • What are your feelings about the Spider-Man franchise being rebooted? How many NCAA secondary violations will Lane Kiffin receive this year?

• Will the Big 10's comparatively prosperous 2009-2010 bowl season doom us all to an early apocalypse?

I really think the NCAA needs to change it's trasnfer policy in which a clause exists that if the coach of your school that recruited you leaves, you are allowed to transfer to another school without incurring the sit out a year penalty.

Never gonna happen. That would basically be an acknowledgment that athletics comes before the schooling for these athletes. And although we all know thats the case, the NCAA will never say that. What they should do is make the coaches sit out a year when they transfer between schools.

But what does that solve?

The deterrent of being unemployed for a year might make them think twice about jumping around from school to school.

Still kinda of shock that Lane Kiffin would go to USC, but then again coaches in NCAA jump ship all the time. I do think it's a good hire for them and they might be able to convince those new recruits to go to USC even after Carroll's departure.

Kiffin was drooling the second the Southern Cal job opened up, though I wonder if he'll actually produce any success there.

Regarding 2010, I'm torn between whether it would be WORSE for the BCS if: Boise State goes undefeated next year and doesn't make it to the National Title game/wins their bowl game; or if Boise State goes to the national title game and destroys their opponent.
