2010 Emmy Awards - Nomination Domination

No Michael Sheen as "Wesley Snipes?"

:cmad:

I don't see how Hamm could be nominated this year (last year, definitely) while Michael Sheen was ignored. Wesley Snipes made the season. And he deserves a spin-off as well as an Emmy! :argh:

Anybody else have the feeling that Breaking Bad deserves to win Best Drama but is going to be beat out by Mad Men again?

Not gonna happen. Itzin deserves it. Unfortunately, the Academy, in their desperate need to ******e Lost, stuck Lithgow in Guest Star, which guarantees he'll win that. He should've won Best Supporting with Itzin winning Guest Star...but alas, the Emmys screw Itzin again :(

It's not the Emmy's fault he ended up in the Guest Actor category. John Lithgow submitted himself as a Guest Actor. If he had submitted himself as a Supporting Actor, I'm sure he would have gotten a nom in that category but he knew that he pretty much had the award won if he went in as a Guest Actor. In the Supporting Actor category, he would've gotten competition from Terry O'Quinn and Aaron Paul.

John Noble needs some recognition/love as well.

I'm certainly happy to see that Two and a Half Men barely got any nominations.

Lithgow still would've won hands down. His performance was too acclaimed not too even in light of Paul or O'Quinn. That said, he decided to as to not overshadow the rest of his cast mates. Still....he inadvertedly overshadowed Izbin.

Got two too many in my book.

Ideally, the piece of crap would get no nominations and Charlie Sheen would be locked up for at least three years, thus cancelling the show. But as long as it's not nominated for best comedy, I'm happy.

I`m supporting Lost all the way

The actors themselves choose where they submit their nomination; if Lithgow is a guest actor, it's because he decided to submit himself as one. Since he wasn't main cast, he could have gone with either supporting actor or guest actor depending on his preference.

A good batch of nominations overall, I think.

I really like all the Mad Men women getting recognized; I like Moss more than Hendricks as an actress, but the former didn't have nearly as much to do this season, so I hope Hendricks wins.

Love all the Glee cast recognition (it's too bad there's no ensemble award, but I guess that's what SAG is for), particularly for Colfer, who managed to break into Supporting Actor Comedy, a difficult feat (Kurt has really soured for me, but Colfer is terrific). Though I'm disappointed at no Cory Monteith, but then, he's stranded between what is clearly a lead part and submitting himself in supporting.

Guest Actor Comedy is interesting for having both Neil Patrick Harris and Jon Hamm there, since they're also nominated elsewhere for their regular gigs, and have not won those prizes several times each. Will one of them get the guest actor prize as a consolation (Harris would be a particularly strong candidate for this, since he's very popular, he probably should have won by now, and HIMYM has really gone down the tubes this season).

I'm pretty satisfied with the emmy nominations though I would have made some changes here and there. First, I'm glad that LOST was nominated. I think Fox, Quinn, and Emerson really deserve their nominations. Quinn and Emerson have a better chance of winning, however. I really liked Matthew Fox and thought he acted really well this past season but his category has some real competition. He's faced up against Michael C. Hall and Jon Hamm. I don't know who will win Best Actor in a Drama Series but I'm really rooting for Michael C. Hall. If you watched season 4 of Dexter, you'll know why.

Again, there is some stiff competition in the Best Drama Series category. I think Dexter deserves the win but I wouldn't be sad if it lost out to Mad Men or LOST.

I think the thing I'm most pleasantly surprised about is the inclusion of Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in the Lead Actor and Actress categories. It's about time and they both deserve the nominations and wins. I think Friday Night Lights should have been nominated for Best Drama Series as well as Zach Gilford for Best Supporting Actor.

Lithgow HAS to win Best Guest Actor. I personally would have put him in the Best Supporting Actor category but since he isn't, he's probably the favorite of his group. If I had my way, Dexter would sweep the Emmy's every year.

I don't really care for the Comedy Series categories. I don't think The Office should have been nominated for anything. The past few seasons have been lackluster and steadily declining in quality. I was disappointed in seeing that Community and Parks and Recreation didn't get a nomination. I knew that Glee and Modern Family would dominate the Comedy categories this year. I just didn't expect everyone from Modern Family except Ed O'Neil to get nominated. How they missed O'Neil is puzzling to me.

I love most of the USA shows but I don't feel any of them stand out above the rest. I don't think they deserve a nomination any more than the shows that were nominated. I love Royal Pains but it's not that great. The plot lines are predicatable and the acting is okay.

Overall, this year's nominations made me quite happy minus the few exceptions I mentioned above.

Oh, and I missed this the first time through, but Sir Patrick Stewart got a nomination for the PBS Hamlet. Hooray, Captain Picard!

Seriously, though, Stewart always tops my list of great current actors who haven't actually won any of the major acting awards.

I don't know who will win Best Actor in a Drama Series but I'm really rooting for Michael C. Hall. If you watched season 4 of Dexter, you'll know why.

I actually think he's the frontrunner this year, well it's more like 55% Michael C. Hall and 45% Bryan Cranston but I think Hall will beat him.

Speaking of which, no Breaking Bad fans here? It was certainly the most critically acclaimed show of the season (at least from the reviews I've read) and I think the most deserving show to win Best Drama. Unfortunately, I think it will lose out to Mad Men which is a great show but I think Season 3 of Breaking Bad surpassed Season 3 of Mad Men.

Hall will win. Cranston playing the guy with cancer, can't beat the guy who actually had cancer.

Anybody want to do a pool? If you want to play, bold or underline which one you think will win out of the ones below. Do not edit your post after submitting it or you will be disqualified. You have until July 23rd at midnight. The person who gets the most right will win.

Matt, can we do a prize like a 100x100 avatar if you don't already have one?

Peter Krause deserves better...'Parenthood' can suck a giant ****...and NBC is racist anyway...where's the black family show?? huh...forgot who made you the king of TV comedy NBC??....bastards

I think Cryer will win Best Supporting, Comedy, again, for a couple of reasons:

- he won last year, so he's got a proven base of support.
- three of the five other nominees are from the same show, which is potentially a vote-splitting scenario (unless one of them is a big enough favourite that he consolidates most of that show's bloc).
- if Harris were going to win, he probably would have by now, and the show has lost steam.
- Colfer and the MF guys are noobs.
