I beg to differ due to the fact that she won awards that same night over Gaga and Beyonce, before any "Kanye Sympathy" was even possible. Not that the VMA's mean anything, but on a whole the Grammy's have been a joke for a while as well. Country is huge in the US, just because you don't listen to it doesn't make it not true.

I can see that right now Taylor Swift hating is strong online, but of course she really has a lot of fans, otherwise who would be buying her albums? Maybe her fans just feel happy enough she win and not worth defend her against the haters.

Since I can see majority of the Taylor swift fans are probably MORE mature than the fans of these other artists!
Most of the Taylor hating messages aren't that mature, anyways.

This is one ******** argument I'm tired or hearing. She already was pretty big and had a huge following before Kanyegate. Call me naive but I'm pretty sure Grammy voters couldn't give a **** that big bad Kanye was mean to little innocent Taylor Swift. These are music people for God's sake.

Its not so much that they felt sorry for her as the general audience have decided to put taylor on a pedetstal after the kanye debacle. Now award voters are capitilizing on her image by giving her major awards, which probably helps with ratings. Also, the award voters have decided to snub the "Villain" of the scandal, hence the reason why kanye got snubbed this year. Its all politics, really.

Totally agreed that they snubbed Kanye because of the whole debacle. 808's & Heartbreaks should have been nominated for Album of the Year, and "Heartless" should have been up for Song & Record.

Um no, we're talking about followings, and I would wager Taylor Swift's following is just as big if not bigger than Lady Gaga's. They both pale in comparison to Beyonce's following though. If anything, Lady Gaga wins over Taylor internationally.

I just laugh at the idea that anyone is surprised Taylor won. Honestly, I thought Dave Matthews would win but I wouldn't have been surprised with any of them winning.

There is really no point in wasting energy hating on some 20 year old girl who is likely going the way of the Dodo in the next few years. Most others Lip Sync Live (Mariah Carey, etc) , but with Taylor there is NO Lip Sync whatsoever and still sound pretty good!

Yeah, I don't know. People say she's great in concert but everytime I see her perform on TV it's less than impressive. I think the only performance of hers that was good that I saw was when she was in Glastonbury last year. Caught that on Palladia.

Just the fact that she doesn't lip sync and still sound pretty good is better than ANY other artists who constantly Lip sync (Regardless how good they sound but when you lip sync it totally DOESN'T count!)

I couldn't agree more. This may indeed be the genesis for it. She strikes me as a Shania Twain...hot for the moment, but one that will fade away over time. She's not here for the long-run...at least not from where I'm hovering over the earth.
