You're the man Rezzo.

I really like the footage. Looks like we are getting quite a few of the plot elements in there. Rorschach always came across as being pretty nimble in the comic so I can live with his action scenes as we've seen them so far. I would definitely like to see some dialogue though.

I'm torn with that one. Part of me thinks it cool, while the other part slightly winces. That, coupled with Rorschach running up the side of some weird platform (in the rain, no less) makes me think they are making him the film's bad-ass. I always imagined Rorschach to be a bit more rough-and-tumble, a bit more gritty and improvisational...but pathetic at the same time, you know what I mean?

I know what you mean, but I'll tell you what I told people who *****ed about Rorschach fighting the cops when he's taken down in earlier (and probably this one) drafts. This is a man who helped Nite Owl take down Underboss and his minions. Who has battled crime. A man the underworld fears because of his penchant for violence, who is obviously a capable vigilante, and no slouch in the physicality department (You think climbing that wall with a grappling hook is easy?). I don't mind him having some physical ability. He wouldn't have survived in the world of WATCHMEN if he didn't. He can still be pathetic on some level.

Now, I don't know why Rorschach is running up that latticework. Maybe he's about to leap onto the Owlship and escape a mob that's chasing him across the rooftop or something. I'm sure there's a decent reason for it.

Why people are doomsaying because a TEASER doesn't show actual scenes is beyond me.

And I don't know where some of you have been, but WATCHMEN does have quite a bit of action, and potential for action, in it. Almost every piece of action you see in this is all related to stuff that's in the graphic novel. Almost every single shot.

I think the implication is that this is when Dr. Manhattan is "seen" destroying cities. I doubt it, though. I don't believe he'll be "seen" at all.

Re: Rorschach's physical ability. Reiterating what the Guard said basically but..The bit with him making that little extra leap on the fence was my fav bit from the new trailer. It made me feel he was that bit more realistic for having avoided the cops for 8yrs, he has to have kept in shape and pushed himself that little bit further physically to be escaping situations that he can't handle(nice try with leaping out the window but no dice that time, burnt himself into a corner). He walks around the streets with a mask on, sometimes cops are going to inevitably spot him(no pun intent), and he'd have to leg it from the guns.
When he's brought into prison DrLong says something about him being in extremely good physical shape for his age. I don't think it looked too superpower-y, more at the level of an athlete.

In accordance with the slow motion.
It makes alot of sense to me, in the shot where Adrian gets shot, for the slow motion to be there. Adrians Senses are hightened far beyond what a normal persons are. He has the ability to see the trajectory of a bullett, and catch it. So it almost seems to me like the movie starts in Adrians point of view then speeds up to real time, and i thought it really showed how fast, he really is.

wow, making downloadble links is the new splitting the Red Sea :wow:

Im sure an early draft of the script had Manhattan turning Warheads into Leaves in front of the military. This could just be that.

Keep in mind that these are still teasers. A trailer should show dialogue and a hint of the story, and we're still about 5 months away until release.
agreed, plus teasers don't often show a large amount of dialog, generally speaking of course

Just noticed this in the footage:

Coolness.

yeah doc changes missiles into leaves to show the military his powers also you know its from the past as he is wearing underwear in clip

I agree. However, on Rorschach being somewhat pathetic, well, I never got the impression that he was supposed to be. Kovacs, sure, but never Rorschach. The impression I always got with Rorschach was that he was absolutely an extremely capable person. He took the work more seriously than anyone; it seemed obvious to me that his obsessive and methodical nature would extend to physical training. What's more, Rorschach was one of the few (the others being Comedian and Ozymandias) not portrayed as being a joke while in costume. Of the heroes--most of whom were painted as people playing dress-up--he really seemed the least pathetic of all (except as Kovacs, where of course he was the most pathetic).

A little off topic but when I read the GN and I hear Rorscach's voice, I think of Boba Fett's voice. Not the 2004 SE. I'm talking about Fett's original gravvly voice. Remember that one? That's the exact voice I hear when I hear Rorscach and when I read the GN.

he's no good to me dead....

gun, no license, very bad....

yeah, that sounds about right, haha

if fett's didn't sound like he's talking through a walkie talkie

Part of what makes Rorschach pathetic, IMO, is the fact that he thinks he's truly making a difference by breaking fingers and beating up rapists and muggers. It's true that lowlifes are afraid of him, but he's not changing anything--crime still marches on. Where Veidt saw the bigger picture (for better or worse), Rorschach was focused solely on his immediate surroundings.

Nobody took their work more seriously than Veidt. Both Rorschach and Veidt were very focused, very determined people, but it was Rorschach's very narrow vision (and lack of true cunning) that ultimately led to his demise. I know people admire his dogged commitment to his personal values, but as a true hero, he was basically nothing. If he had any true wisdom or ability to adapt, he'd have faked like he was going along with the rest of them, and somehow got the word out when he got back home. Veidt beating the crap out of him showed us that he was no real threat against someone with true ability and vision, and his death basically demonstrated that someone like him has no place in the world, unlike Laurie and Dan who were able to adapt to their new surroundings.

Strangely enough, Rorschach didn't really have much of a costume, other than the mask---which was made from a woman's dress. And even though he wore a fedora, coat, and suit, he never washed the damned thing and stank to high heaven. I know he's seen as one of the coolest characters in the book, and I do like some of his qualities (his taking on Big Figure's goons was excellent), but I can't help but feel sorry for him most of the time.

I didn't want to do it, but he made me. It's tacky to pick on someone for their avvy, but the second he goes after that amazing f***ing trailer when he's been repping that piece of crap movie, I cant ignore it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm supporting Dragonball, hating on Watchmen..........................I think we have just found out Tom Rothman user ID on this site.:woot:

And that's all part of the charm man, why we love him so much. :yay: Feeling sorry for him, wishing he had been more cunning, the tragedy of losing such a character.. It's moving.

As far as the complaints about 'Spider-Rorschach' go, I saw nothing wrong with the action sequences, like the scaffolding, BUT I do think it looked really awkward and Spider-man-like when he flew up and landed on the bar of the window crouched. Wasn't he supposed to CLIMB in and SIT on that? :o

To the person saying that they imagined him sounding like the original Boba Fett voice.. I thought that voice sounded like a pretentious cop or something, like the guy you see hosting extreme police videos, but out of his element. Rorschach, to me, is much more gravelly and deeper. But Jackie's voice really grabs me too, I'm so happy with what he's doing!
