More Watchmen Footage To Premiere During SCREAM 2008

Maybe Jon with the black v-neck suit just didn't look that good CGI'ed. They said in test shots the all black spider-suit didn't look so good for spidey3 so changed it to just the normal suit blackened up, could be a similar effect here, just doesn't look good. Tbh, I think it's a minor point, he goes from black panties to letting it all hang out.

Yeh thats a fair point about it not looking good. That may well be the case.

But as for him going from pants to 'letting it all hang out', eventhough its not necessarily a big deal it still detracts from some of the imagery created by the gradual removal of it. I always saw that as Manhattans gradual seperation from humans and life in general, to become more God-like.

But, as i said, i dont see it as a big deal. Just one of those little visual things i hoped would make it.

squid can still be in a nuclear blast would not leave bodies right :

It would, it depends on how far from ground zero they are: With the big bombs (the 50 megaton monsters) I think anyone in the open within several miles of the detonation would be instantly vaporized (I cant say the exact figure but I'd guess something around 20 miles). With a smaller bomb, like the ones dropped on Japan, that radius of vaporisation (the initial fireball) is down to a few hundred meters. Of course, there's still the blast that would tear bodies to pieces spreading much further, and the heatflash extending further still, but at that extended range the bomb would indeed leave a great many bodies behind (some would even still be alive for a time)

Sadly, that corpse looks a bit too cripsy to be the work of the squid.

I do have a question for everyone. I have the book The Watchmen and I absolutely love it. But my question is how do you want the revelation of Rorschach to be handled?

Like do you want some of his scenes where he's walking out of costume cut so people won't already know it's him? Because reading the book you kind of get the idea that he's the guy walking around with "The End is Nigh" sign. So are you against the possibility of them maybe cutting some of those scenes?

I'm not sure if what I'm asking makes sense. However, don't you want that surprise feeling for those who aren't familiar with the books to be blown away when it's revealed that Rorschach is the creepy guy with the sign?

For those who haven't read the book, it'll most likely surprise them.

To me, it seemed like Rorschach would have a different voice when he's Walter Kovacs from his voice as Rorschach considering his "face" represents his true self.

and it's not like Jackie Earle Haley is a recognizable movie star face, either . . .

with enough shadowy lighting by the DP, a little change in tone of voice, I think it'll be fine

Pretty much every panel in the comic where Rorschach was seen without his mask and with the sign was actually focused on the news vendor and his monologue/dialogue with the kid. Kovacs just appeared in the edge of the frame and was not the focus. So the movie should go the same route, show Bernie talking to the kid with Haley wandering around with the sign in the background.

I don't think it would be a terrible idea to cut Kovaks from wandering around outside the Comedian's funeral. That's the biggest red flag that the character is actually more important than he appears.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Maybe cut a shot of him out of him wandering around where Comedian was murdered, cut a shot out of him out from him attending the funeral. I think if you remove those two scenes you'd have an element of surprise honestly.

I havent seen this mentioned anywhere else but why is Dr Manhattan not wearing his suit in scenes where he blatently should be, such as the 'tank scene'. This, in the comic, takes place after hes been introduced to the public and the press.

Could it be that Snyder has changed it so that Manhattan goes from the pants to nothing? If this is the case (its just an assumption) then it certainly takes away from Manhattan's gradual distancing from the human race.

However, my mate who was reading this over my shoulder (rude b***ard), suggested that it may be that the footage isnt finished. Which is a fair point.

Thoughts?

Yeah, the CGI didn't look complete, I assumed that it wasn't when I first saw that shot, compared to previous, finished ones. I'd be willing to bet it wasn't finished.

Just thought I'd point out that in the bit where you see the Comedian jumping down from the Owlship (during the Keene Riots, just before you see the shot of Nite-Owl jumping down), you can see a sign saying "USA Welcomes Vietnam as our 51st State".

Yeah, sorry, I see what you mean, you're right, it would have been another nice little touch to have in there to give a little more weight to that notion. Tbh, i never really thought about his nakedness bringing him closer to the notion of him being a 'god' , I suppose I just thought of him going naked as being closer to what humans really 'should' be, if , y'know, we could just throw up that damn apple.

This just in: people's already getting delusional about the teaser.
