I know there are sites which allow an external draft... We could then do the draft here and transfer the players directly over to teams.

I think yahoo lets you do that...

I guess so, I've just tried to limit myself with leagues recently, I have a tendency of spreading myself too thin with them

Heh, I somehow doubt we'd be able to nail X amount of people down long enough to do a full Draft here.

Trust me Hound, better to Auto Draft it, at least then you can set your own Rankings beforehand and ensure you're getting what you want.

True enough, but we do hold about 3 or more drafts every year on a forum (we do it real early and set about 12 hour deadlines and ask people to forward lists to the commish/moderator to reduce the risk of missing your pick) every year for a fantasy league based on the Australian NBL.

That said we only have about 10 in a league there...

Ah, I think I see what you thought I meant... You thought I meant everyone online at once over a messenger styled service?

I was meaning more "extend the draft over a longer period of time and have each person make selections either in this thread or from a PM'd pick-list if the clock expires".

The method I'm suggesting makes it even more likely that you'll get the players you want DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION (pick lists will be more relevant - say you've got 3 guards already because others have ranked forwards and centres generally higher overall, and your pick comes up and another guard is next in queue because you had no idea everyone else would pick big-heavy you can change on the fly because you're creating a fresh list roughly every pick or two - depending how fast we want the draft done, of course).

I mean, ultimately I prefer a draft auction format, but that's logistically impossible.

i was thinking of a round robin pm draft? we'll get to 10 or so (i hope) and then i'll randomly pull names out of a hat for draft order. then go from there, or via an instant messaging service. whatever works.

we can decide on that for sure now. I was gonna see if we could get 8-10 people and then cap it.

with so few people i thought it might be easier to do a live draft in case that's how everyone wants to do it. otherwise, we'll have to do an offline draft either via aim, msn, skype or hype pm.

would it be hard to get everyone together for a live draft?
maybe if we post our time zones and when we're free?
I'm on EST, and i'm pretty much available any night between 8pm and midnight for sure.
