2010 NFL Draft Discussion

Does Arizona draft a QB now that Kurt Warner has retired? Whisenhunt hasn't drafted a QB during his tenure as Cards coach yet.

I've read numerous articles stating they're going with Leinart and will not spend a pick on a QB whether it's through the draft or a trade.

Also read they plan to become a more physical team with Hightower and Beanie.

I call smoke screen. They'll go into the season with Leinart as their guy, but they won't pass up an opportunity to pull the trigger on someone in the middle rounds.

Dez numero uno?? Maybe if he cracks the 4.3s...this isnt a coolest names contest.

14th to Seattle.

I think it's a pretty good chance Seattle nabs him somewhere down the line. Washington is better off drafting Clausen than Bradford.

...

Tim Tebow QB Florida – It was pretty clear this week that Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is far more of a project than most scouts and coaches initially anticipated. Tebow's footwork seemed to improve this week, but that was about it.

The former Heisman-winning quarterback's elongated throw is even more apparent when you see him in person. His delivery is so slow that it's a wonder that more defensive backs in college didn't intercept more of his passes. While one team (Jacksonville) could still take Tebow in the first round for reasons other than what he will do on the field, it's pretty apparent now that the talk of Tebow going in the first round has come to a close.

I had Tebow rated as a second-round pick coming into this week, however that seems too high now. Tebow has the arm of a second-or-third string quarterback in the NFL, but he has the intangibles of an MVP-type of quarterback. At this point, I'd project Tebow as a third-to-fourth rounder, but even now it may still be too early to know for sure where he will go.

Tebow needs to have a good workout at the Combine to help salvage some sort of positive production this offseason.

I think it's pretty certain that Tebow has dropped out of the second round of the draft after his Senior Bowl performance. I think he's gonna end up changing positions in the pros.

They will take a QB with one of their first three picks. Especially since most of the QB's will drop this year. Leinart is in his final year so they have to bring in someone else.

Tebow could be a decent qb on a great running team with great wide receivers.

Outside of that...fairly uncommon....team, I dont see him being effective.

Yeah, I watched a bit of the Senior Bowl and Tebow really did look terrible. I still wonder, even if he performed average-to-poor at the Combine if some team with a crazy owner or coach or both (hello, Oakland) will still take him in the first round.

Just kidding on Oakland though... they already have one bust at QB... I doubt they'll acquire another (potential) one. Of course, never count out Al Davis' madness.

Even I wouldn't want Tebow to be condemned to Oakland

Oakland.... where football players go to die.

And where Al Davis is still immortal. He had a defective Lazarus Pit under that stadium that keeps him alive but doesn't stop him from aging.

Skip Bayless on ESPN said that Tebow would be a starting QB in the NFL and win a Super Bowl. that may have been the hardest I'll laugh all day.

Would not surprise me if Tebow ended up in Buffalo, after all, they did hire Chan Gailey as head coach, a CFL QB Coach as QB Coach and a 71 year old as a GM.

They'll become the new Raiders pretty soon.

I don't think Tebow goes in 1st round but who cares. I still say like so many if he goes to the right situation he can be a success.

He didn't do anything in the Senior Bowl to shake any of the questions most had about him. His release is still incredibly funky, and will need a complete overhaul. And unlike the issues that guys like Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, and even Byron Leftwich had, Tim Tebow isn't a pure passer. Those guys had the benefit of being throwing quarterbacks with better arms and more experience in conventional passing offenses.

The other major glaring issue from this game was that Tebow's foot speed wasn't that impressive. He's not going to run past many people at the next level, and he won't last long trying to truck over NFL linebackers.

And the two fumbles, one of them at the 1 yard line, didn't exactly help either.

Buffalo Bils GM Buddy Nix is MUCH smarter than that. He's drafted people like Tomlinson, Gates and Merriman and helped turned the Chargers franchise around. Eleven people he drafted ended up in the 2006 Pro Bowl. The Bills are no where near becoming the new Raiders.

First version was screwed up, the top half was from my previous draft. Fixed:

1. St. Louis (1-15) - Dez Bryant, WR Oklahoma State. I am assuming Brendan Marshall is gone at this point so in comes a WR very similar to his style. Bryant is a big, strong WR who will be prepared and mentored by the same group that got Crabtree ready while he was waiting to sign with San Fran.

Before you rush judgement, let me make my case.

Unless there is a rookie salary cap put in place by this draft (which is still very possible), no team is going to trade up with St. Louis. St. Louis has two former high first round picks and a highly paid defensive end, add Suh and that's a lot of money to have invested in the defensive line. Clausen and Bradford would demand nothing less than Stafford's ridiculous 72 Million dollar deal, so the Rams are going to have to fall in love with a QB to invest the entire franchise in him. The Rams have found a way to be in a bad position in the most talented draft the NFL class in the last few years. Dez Bryant is a physical freak and you bet Deon Sanders is dedicated to making Bryant succeed after the NCAA incident. If he blows people away at the combine, he could work his way to number one. St. Louis needs a personaltiy, they need playmakers and Dez Bryant brings that. St. Louis would probably be best served by going after a veteran QB and building an offense with Jackson and Bryant.

2. Detroit (2-14) - Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska. I think it's very possible Detroit has a shot at Suh, but I would much rather Detroit trade down. I think Detroit's better served by getting two or three stars out of one Suh. Should Detroit have to pick here, Suh is a great pick up. He would probably get a look at both DT and DE from Schwartz.

.

Don't get me wrong, if we wind up with Suh at #2 I'll be lying in the fetal position on my floor and drooling on myself with happiness but I just don't see anyway in sam hell that Dez Bryant goes #1. St. Louis would have to be absolutely ******ed to do that. It'd be like buying a set of $3,000 Pirelli tires to put on your Ford Focus given the options they have at QB and their o-line issues.

I can buy the argument that they don't sink another crazy contract into their D-line with either Suh or McCoy, but I just dont see them taking Bryant at #1 even if he broke the sound barrier at the combine.

My mistake on Buddy Nix.

A few weeks ago, Charley Casserly on CBS said that he expects Bradford and Clausen in the first round and Colt McCoy in round two/round three.

Ahhh Demaryius Thomas broke his foot. No combine for him.

Guy is the best deep threat in years; he put 1150 yards on just 45 catches :wow:

His name will be an interesting one to watch in the draft; I have him as my #2 wide out behind Bryant. He's a guy whose game reminds me A LOT of Terrell Owens; could be a big time impact player from the get go on the right team, though after Dez I am not into any other receivers. Not a big Golden Tate guy. Jojo Lafaell = hell no.

Lets look at the draft.

You clearly have to start with Suh or McCoy - I have stated my reasons for not drafting them. It's a lot of salary at one position (DL).

The question then is at QB - if the Rams make a move for Vick, will they draft a QB number 1? I don't think either of these QB's warrants the pick for the Rams.

So where else do you go? Dez Bryant will likely be cheapest player they could sign at pick 1. It also goes a long way in building an offensive identity. You could argue that no player helps the Rams on the field more than Dez Bryant as his mere presence helps Steven Jackson, Donnie Avery and whatever they have at QB.

His stats are skewed by the offense he played in. When a team has the worry about a triple option, any decent, larger WR has to put up big numbers. He needs a ton of work on his route running. I am hoping this injury lets him slip to a position where it would be good for the Lions to draft.

Well, here's where I think Tebow will end up.......

Jaguars (Most Likely)

Raiders (If they can afford him, they pumped too much money/food into JaTubby McThrowbad)

Vikings? (Old Man Favre is not immortal)

Cardinals (Leinert is too busy banging ASU Girls and Bradford has that shoulder)

Bills (Eh, but they need a permanant starter)

Leinart can bang ASU chicks and be an effective NFL QB at the same time.

I like Thomas's game speed, if he enters the league as a sheer vertical threat, with everything being a work in progress (basically what Hakeem Nicks did for the majority of last season), he could be a big time instant impact player.

I think Pats snag him in round 2.
