2011 NFL Thread: Playoffs? You kidding me?

My Raiders are one win away from being in the playoffs for the first time in years. I just hope they don't screw this up. I have been waiting a very long time for this moment. Although I still want Jason back as our QB.

Lets hope they screw it up

Speaking of Raheem Morris, if he gets canned, his likely landing spot will be Pittsburgh as he and Tomlin are best friends. But what would his role be? LeBeau isn't going anywhere unless Dick LeBeau wants to retire as LeBeau has the second most power in the organization (behind Ben Roethlisberger but in front of Mike Tomlin). Carnell Lake has worked wonders with Pittsburgh's defensive backs, it would be a shame to see him forced out to make room for Morris as defensive backs coach. Then again, there is a good chance he will be considered a contender for several DC jobs so it may work itself out. I suppose he could become assistant head coach. John Mitchell, the defensive line coach currently holds that job and he has been with the organization since 1994. I could see him being reduced to just DL coach to make room for Morris as assistant head coach, that would be my prediction anyhow.

Also, new talk is popping up about Bill Cowher to San Diego. The New York Post is reporting that Cowher is interested. Didn't Cowher say just a month ago that he has no interest in coaching? I swear, "sources close to Cowher," tell reporters that he is interested just to get a free lunch. :funny:

If Cowher does go to San Diego though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kevin Greene as his defensive coordinator.

Rivers and Cowher is a good move...Nice weather as well. Decent fans. They need a better defense so this works

Not to mention, AFC west stinks

I think any Coach like Cowher is going to be looking at who's the starting QB and how much free reign does Management give. If Turner is fired, San Diego is probably one of the most attractive places with Rivers.

Hey Matt, maybe Morris can be the Steelers' "gameday consultant" like Jim Tressel is with the Colts :hehe:

Yep. I think a big thing for Cowher would be that one of his daughters lives in Los Angeles, so he'd be close to her.

I think even more than Rivers, what has Cowher really drooling at the mouth is the fact that AJ Smith will probably fired and Cowher would probably be able to choose his own GM. That is HUGE to him and was apparently the deal breaker with the Dolphins last year.

I wonder how Cowher and Rivers would get along. Rivers is a cocky SOB and Cowher doesn't stand for that kind of nonsense.

"Yes, Really."

If looks could kill....they would be Bill Cowher. :(

Well, the Braylon Edwards experiment is officially over in SF as the 49ers showed him his walking papers & waived (waved) him goodbye

Right now my most anticipated game will be Tebow vs Orton aka Broncos vs Chiefs this week. If Orton can knock Tebow and the Broncos out of playoff contention then I think he'll get his revenge. :yay:

Revenge is a plate best served cold. :o

Rivers always does come off like a cocky *****e, but if Cowher gets the Chargers winning again, he'll probably be a happy camper. Also, I remember hearing a rumor that the Steelers were interested in drafting Rivers back in 2004. So perhaps Cowher wants to work with Rivers.

He really looked lost in the offense. And his injuries really limited him it seems. It got so bad to the point where he not only wasn't making plays, he was causing penalties to screw the team over. It just wasn't working out. I was never really a fan of Edwards in the first place.

San Diego can't hire Bill Cowher yet until they have lunch with Tony Dungy.

I'd love to have Cowher here in Chicago ...

That will be a fun game to keep an eye on. Orion beats the previously unbeaten Packers and then gets to knock Tebow mania out of the playoffs. That would be a nice way to close out the season for Orton.

I am guessing he said that to get the Dolphins off of his back. Since he would be forced to work with Jeff Ireland :o I guess anyone can say that the Dolphins will not get a real coach with forcing them to do that

Damn straight. I hope the Chiefs knock the crap out of Tebow this week. Here's to hoping for another 4-pick performance from "The Most Exciting Player in the Game."

Does anyone besides me, think the "resting your starters" concept is a lame idea?

I think resting the ones with even minor injuries or taking out your QB by half time or at the end of your 3rd quarter is sometimes a good idea.
