2014 NFL thread: Down and Dirty - Part 1

So I just read a bit on it, and I am wondering why kind of evidence he has that could exonerate Hardy. It seems very much like he said, she said.

It is, so I'm predicting that the truth is somewhere in the middle. Yet, he says he has video of her going ape **** that very night on him and messages of her telling him that she's going to purposely ruin his career if he leaves her.

Incidentally, this started over Greg sending her to Miami with the promises of a luxury vacation but in reality it was a ploy to move her stuff out of his place while she was away.

Supernova, it's not like you have shown otherwise. Every post of yours in this thread has been deflecting blame off Ray Rice. Even when I called you out on it you tried to deflect blame by naming other players who have been arrested and have done things who haven't been suspended.
This is exactly what I found as well. Which is why I think it applied to Spider-Fan's point.

Yeah, I noticed more then a few bizarre statements from Holder. That being said, I am not a fan of attacking a potential victim's character in such cases. I can also see the bold part being true, while some form of assault also being true. Heck, that might be the reason. She makes a threat, and Hardy doesn't take it well.

All in all, I am insanely curious now to see what comes out during the jury trial. Though I do wonder how Hardy is gonna oppose the apparent visible injuries Holder had. That is always a sticking point in these situations.

This discussion is too heated. Let's move on.

NFL announces former FBI director Robert S. Mueller will investigate independently Ray Rice case. Final report to be made public

So, Thursday Night Football. Who does everyone got? Will the Ravens band together in this moment of crisis, or will it overwhelm them? Ravens imo looked the better team of the two during week 1, even though they lost. But I get the feeling the Steelers, at home, get them at the perfect time.

We will soon find out that he is the godfather to one of Goodell's kids.

Agreed, the documented bruises will likely be complex to dignify but it's not impossible. He says the bruises on her arm are from him restraining her. We'll see though.

Apparently, Hardy's lawyers have gotten Holder's ex-boyfriend to testify against her. Things will definitely be interesting in November.

Bruising on the arms is such a double edge sword. In many cases the same kind of bruising can come from restraining an attacker, that comes from grabbing someone.

Do we know exactly why Holder's ex-boyfriend is being called to testify?

Yep, so this thing is basically in the air. How and where it'll land is unknown. That said, I'm skeptical of her claims that he slammed her head on a toilet seat and threw her on a bed full of weapons. It just seems a little too farfetched. The choking claims might hold some weight though.

According to the rumors, her ex will provide an extensive background of her past behavior.

That makes me feel uneasy. I understand why it is important, but it can easily crossover into attacking a potential victim. Just gonna have to wait and see.

The bed full of weapons does seem a bit insane, but then again Hardy turned over 10 guns to the police, including a Tavor SAR. Not exactly sure what he needed with that. But if you were to asking me my gut feeling after reading some testimony, I get the feeling that she embellished a real altercation. Namely the guns. She may have hit him first, but he responded in the wrong way.

As you said, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Darth in response to your Thursday Night question, while I hate both teams and hope it ends in a 0-0 tie, I think the Steelers will probably come away with the W, their run game looked nice last week, and Big Ben is always good for a big play or two every week it seems. I just dont know if the ravens, with all thats happened this week, can overcome everything. Plus I never trust Flacco haha, but he and Steve Smith sure looked good together last week. As usual between these two teams I'm sure it will be a tight game, probably within 3 points.

I'm thinking Baltimore will win behind some "we are family' themed night...

Here we go again

Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy was declared guilty by a North Carolina judge of assaulting his former girlfriend, Nicole Holder, in an incident that allegedly involved hair-pulling, slamming a toilet seat on her arm, and putting his hands around her neck. While he awaits the next step in his legal process, a jury trial, Hardy played in the team's season-opening game last weekend, and is scheduled to play this Sunday.

Well I guess we'll see him again around week 8 or 9. Not that I care either way. Man who put their hand s on women are not men in my book.

The way I see it is. As long as the team I root for stays out of the news. The rest of the NFL can have a melt down. Thats 3 teams now dealing with Domestic Violence stuff lol

If Jerry Richardson has a brain in his skull, he will can Hardy's ass before the day is out.

Yeah. I mean, the guy was convicted. And what he was convicted of is arguably even worse than what Rice did. He was convicted of beating the crap out of this girl, throwing her on a pile of GUNS, choking her and threatening to kill her. To hell with his appeal... the conviction is already there... neither the league nor the Panthers should wait on this sh**.

I'm reading a couple of articles, but I'm getting the impression that Goodell won't step down or be removed. He will have some sort of plausible deniability and the truth of whether or not he saw the tape will never be released.

Someone will lose their job but it won't be him. In the end his "ignorance" (Bountygate) will at most make him pay some sort of fine.

You have to love how Goodell doesn't hold himself to the same standards he holds against everyone else.

And so true about Flacco. :funny:

I would think that TMZ will find out who in the NFL got the tape that was on that voice mail & that person will be Goodells scape goat

Did you see his statement? All the crying. Does he not realize he can simply deactivate Hardy? Still pay him, just leave him at home. It is the same with Ray McDonald. And they are only playing because they are "too good" to sit.

That new Domestic Violence Policy can kiss my ass. You would think that after Ray Rice the NFL would do the right thing by these two. But nope they will never learn. No one will also believe what ever the **** that stupid FBI guy says who are BFFs with people in the League says either. Roger Goodell & friends are slowly dragging the NFL into the ground. It is quite sad that instead of protecting the NFL. They would rather let the NFL go down for a few players
