The bulk of the Bengals staff has been here over ten years. Paul Alexander, the offensive-line coach, has been with this team since 1993. Mike Brown is loyal to his friends to a fault. Twelve years of middling the road and even the coordinators, position coaches, and assistants have kept their jobs.
When Brown fired Bratkowski following the 2010 season, he did so only because he felt it would appease Carson Palmer. Turns out Palmer wanted Marvin Lewis gone, if anyone. But Brown stuck with Lewis, Palmer retired, and the rest is history.
Fun note: Palmer was a very good player and showed huge promise in his earlier years in Cincinnati. Then he regressed. Now he's in Arizona and prior to the injury was back to playing pretty good football. Looks like Palmer may not have been the problem after all. WHO COULD IT POSSIBLY BE?
