2015 was going to be one crowded year

Jurassic World to hit theaters June 12, 2015!

That's a really good title. So, it's Avengers: AOU, Superman/Batman, Jurassic World, Ant Man, Mockinjay part 2, Bond 24, Star Wars Episode VII: JJ resurrects another franchise, am I missing anything?

To be honest though, I'm not anticipating JW. I haven't even seen the second or third one.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Jurassic Park actually being open to the public and the dinosaurs being unleashed. Sounds like a fun time, but we'll see... it's not at the top of my list or anything. Kind of in the same place as Terminator, but a little above it.

It's not a movie I'm anticipating, but I'm open to it... if that makes any sense.

I wonder how 2015 will fare for all the "Oscar" things and smaller movies.

On the front page of SHH it says that the new Pirates film has been delayed and a 2016 release date is likely. That's good news as far as I'm concerned. There is waaaay too many summer blockbuster films coming out that year. Spielberg is definitely right when he was talking about how things are going to implode in the very near future.

It's people like you and Spielberg that are jinxing 2015. :cmad:

:funny:

Hey, as a nerd I'm super pumped for 2015. To be honest, if the trailer looks good for the new Pirates film I'll be glad if it's released in 2016 so I don't break my bank account with all the movies coming out in 2015...not to mention the Blu-rays.

Yeah, joking aside, I do agree with you. My wallet is already going to be decimated that year, so that Pirates delay "lightened the load", so to speak.

Oh, I think a lot of smaller movies will do well. After all, not everyone is interested in dumb summer blockbusters. As for "Oscar things", these movies are usually released toward the end of the year (and often starts in limited release to get a wide release in January or so), and that period isn't as crowded as the summer season.

The Fantastic Four.

Well, if you're counting movies that are expected to make a lot of money there are a few animated movies missing

"Imploding" is too harsh a word. There will start to be a lot (more) of these big budget movies flopping (there already are) but it'll just be the market self-correcting itself. I have faith that the ones worth seeing will continue to succeed.

its ''physically'' impossible for half of those movies to make a profit. thats why some are talking about this. lets have 3 big blockbusters every summer and lets have a healthy business with quality sequels. not bombs and than reboots every 4-5 years.

It wouldn't shock me if MI5 moves to 2016. 2015 is packed and 2016 is the 50th anniversary of the show and it's the 20th anniversary of the first one.

Who knows, maybe 2015 won't be the crazy year most people are expecting. A few huge summer blockbusters maybe won't help much if the rest of the year is weak. Domestically, at this time last year we had three monster hits in The Hunger Games, Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. This year we have only one movie over $400 million. And yet in total 2013 have been stronger than 2012 so far.

The few huge summer blockbusters playing that summer will make more than most other blockbusters make in their entire run. They will be more than enough. I don't see the rest of the year being weak either with Hunger Games, Bond and Finding Dory in November, Spongebob 2 in Feb, FF, Cinderella and PoM in March, Ted 2 in April and more movies being added over time to fill in the huge gaps. From the few movies announced, 2015 is probably going to be the hugest year anyone has ever experienced in cinema.

It'll be eaten alive by Universal's Illumination animated pic, if their previous track record is any indication.

I don't think summer 2015 will be as crowded as it seems. I'm fairly sure Fantastic Four and Terminator will still be in limbo by then. There's going to be 2 big, billion dollar films that summer: Avengers, Batman/Superman. Mockingjay will probably be earlier in the year and Bond 24 and Star Wars closing the year out. I can't see Antman being treated as a "summer blockbuster" kind of movie and Jurassic World should be fine in its June slot.

This year had a VERY crowded summer and I dont think we're likely to see this kind of claustrophia again. We had Ironman 3, Star Trek, Man of Steel, World War Z, White House Down, Pacific Rim, The Wolverine, Fast 6, RIPD, Elysium, and After Earth. They should have spread these films out throughout the year so they could breath, they all, with the exception of Ironman, could have probably made more money if they had spots where they could breath.

From the looks of 2015 will be HUGE but it will be spread out as opposed to this year.

I think the reason it's getting hyped up even more is that the movies have strong relevance to the GA and the internet community.

I don't understand why some people keep lumping FF in with the summer movies. It's coming out in March.
