2017"Will Marvel ever publish a Spidey book that brings me back to comics?"B/T thread

It is an alternate universe like the 90s Spider-Girl was. It is it's own thing separate from anything else.

What the heck happened in ALL STAR BATMAN last week? #9 I think. Snyder turned Ra's into a terrorist, like Mandarin in Iron Man 3? Ok. Then Bruce confronted Ra's and was shot in the head, but Catwoman was digitally impersonating him the whole time? So he healed and stood right up? I don't if I smoked too much or not enough. Makes me ready to jump ship, though, that's for sure.

:funny:

Man, I've been a die-hard Batman fan for decades but I couldn't get past issue 2 of ASB. I salute you for getting that far!

It's not improved any since that point save for maybe the Poison Ivy story a couple months ago. That was was decent, but the rest has been very blah in my opinion.

Jumped into ResureXion today:

Jean Grey #1 I hate that Marvel got me to buy this, and even more so, I hate that I can't help but like it so darn much! As much as I don't want to support the O5, and hate that they're doing the Jean/Phoenix story AGAIN, I can't ignore how good it is. Stellar art, great writing, and a plotline that, even though we've seen it before, is still interesting. I'll be looking forward to see if the 2nd issue holds up the quality.

Generation X #1 I know I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up for this. Marvel has made it quite clear they don't plan on investing in the young X-Men who don't happen to be time-displaced versions of the old X-Men. But come on, why couldn't Hopeless have written THIS!?!? The art is off-putting and the writing doesn't flow well. I really only picked this up for Quentin's sake, but Strain's take on him so far has been lackluster at best. But for the sake of his obnoxious pink hair, I'll give it one more chance. Of course Marvel would make me like the book I want to hate and dismiss the book I want to love.

Also:

Detective Comics #956 This title continues to be amazing. This issue felt a little short, but it was a fitting conclusion to the League of Shadows arc. And it's great to see Cassandra isn't going anywhere soon, after losing Tim and Stephanie after the previous arcs. This was a great journey for her, and I'm stoked for where she goes from here. Plus the next arc has Zatanna and Azrael, so that's a plus.

Detective Comics has been amazing since the beginning of Rebirth. Every single issue has been fantastic.

I stopped getting Marvel a couple years ago. The second to last Silver Surfer and second to last Squirrel Girl series were my last endeavors.

Sadly, Marvel just isn't as good as it used to be. DC and Valiant are great though.

Astonishing X-Men #3: This was a very Logan-heavy issue. That didn't thrill me, as I'm not a huge fan, but the book as a whole continues to be VERY well written with plenty of twists to keep us surprised.

Invincible Iron Man #11: I was suspicious after the last few issues diverging from the solicitations, but this filler issue confirms in my mind that Legacy showed up and screwed over the story Bendis was telling here. As a result, this issue was a whole lot of nothing biding time until Legacy next month. Just another reason for Legacy to tick me off...

Luke Cage #5: I feel like, as with Iron Man, Legacy interfered here. The conclusion to this arc felt rushed. Warhawk gets hurt, then angry, then hurt again, then angry, then hurt again. One character goes from bonding with Luke to abandoning for someone he has no reason to trust. All in all, this was a less than ideal conclusion to a great arc.

Blue Beetle #12 Giffen may have been hit or miss on this series, but this was one of the hits. I'm just starting to get annoyed with the beating around the bush of what Ted's Rebirth-era canon is.

Legacy has been a mixed bag for me. Luke Cage was largely unaffected, and it remains a stellar title. The current Ringmaster plot is even a step up from the opening arc. Moon Knight is a great new addition. It's off to a very exciting start and is really everything I could want from a Moon Knight series. On the other end of things, though Invincible Iron Man got massively screwed over. How someone as integral as Bendis wasn't prepared for Legacy is beyond me, but it's clear he didn't see it coming. The most interesting storylines from Riri's book are dropped as she takes a backseat in a disjointed mashup of what was clearly meant to be separate issues of two different issues. BIG TIME screw up my Marvel editorial.
