That is gerrymandering for you.
Cincinnati.comA Florida church that also serves as a polling place caught a variety of responses on Election Day after posting a sign discouraging voters to choose Democrats.
The sign outside The Grace of God Church in New Port Richey read, "Don't vote for Democrats on Tuesday and sing 'Oh how I love Jesus' on Sunday."
The sign was also posted on the church's Facebook page.
Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley said he asked the pastor to take the sign down.
"Regarding the above referenced sign, per Florida law, our authority ends at 100 feet from the entrance of the polling place. Beyond the 100 feet, I have no legal authority and in this case, it's private property," Corley explained in his comment.
"Upon hearing that the sign was featured on the Church's Facebook page, I contacted the pastor in the hopes he would remove the overtly political sign as we were getting a tremendous amount of complaints from voters," Corley said. "The Pastor relayed that 'he' personally placed the sign there but the church supports him. I relayed that it was inappropriate for the owner of a facility used as an election day polling place to put an overtly political sign out. He indicated he would not take the sign down."
"I told him that his decision would result in us not using his facility as a polling place and it would cost the taxpayer money to notify the voters of a change of a polling place and legal advertising," Corley added. "Also, an inconvenience to those voters in that precinct who now must go to a new polling place in the future."
The church responded to several posts, saying they have the right to free speech.
I just found out about this. They were a polling place and violated election laws by deliberately telling people to vote Republican.

I could say the same for people who talk about Jesus while supporting Donald Trump.
Absolutely.Stuff like that is downright blasphemous.
Guys, I'm having flashbacks to 2000 for some reason...
The House Democratic majority continued to grow Thursday as Rep. Karen Handel, the Republican who won a high-profile Georgia special election last year, conceded to challenger Lucy McBath, bringing the party's net gain of seats in Tuesday's midterm elections to 31.
That number could grow again in coming days as more outstanding races are called. Many analysts have estimated that the number will climb closer to 38 seats by the time all votes are counted, and a dozen competitive House contests remained too close to call by midday Thursday.
Oh, but it's when they get here that the real invasion will happen!Huh. I was told on a daily basis how dangerous that caravan before Tuesday and I haven’t heard anything in 48 hours. That’s odd.
Voter turnout soared in the 2018 midterm elections, according to an early projection in a new study, potentially reaching the highest level in over 50 years.
An estimated 48.1 percent of eligible voters cast ballots, over 113 million people in total, according to research by University of Florida Professor Michael McDonald, who runs the U.S. Election Project. If that holds it would be the highest rate since 1966, when 48.7 percent of voters participated.
2018 midterm (538 forecast)
House (193 current) +39D
Senate (47 current + 2 Independents) -1D
