What should I buy once my money comes in? For a while, I was pretty sure I would get a Wii. But playing the 360 at my friends house, having him go on and on about it, and seeing the games that are coming out - I'm really thinking twice.

I'll go through the benifets and downsides of each console.

Xbox 360 - Benefits...

More power and more graphics. Gears Of War looks very cinematic at points. This console has the potential for spectacular looking games.

Games that are coming out, like Mass Effect and Bioshock and Assasins Creed look amazing.

Games that were exclusive for the PS3 are coming out for the 360. At this point in time, I could never seriously entertain the idea of getting the overpriced piece of junk that is the PS3.

Online play. I have little doubt that online playing will be superior on the 360.

The 360 is a genuine next generation console.

Downfalls...

The 360 is more expensive than the Wii. The games are also more expensive. With the 360, I won't be able to wave the controller around and point at stuff.

The Wii. Benifets...

A kickass new controller that seems to have alot of potential. Alot of interesting things can be done with the Wii-mote.

Games - Zelda. Zelda Zelda Zelda. It got ten out of ten and 9 out of ten all over the place. I'm a Zelda fan, and I know that this one will be the best one. It looks so much more epic, there seems to be so much more to do. Zelda is the type of game you buy a console to play.

Online play. Some games will feature being able to play your friends across an Internet connection. But will this be as good an experience as the 360 can offer?

Downfalls...

Compared to the 360, the Wii is an underpowered console. Let me make something straight, something that has been bugging me when I read forums. This generation is NOT about graphics vs innovation. It's not as simple as that. The 360 doesn't simply offer prettier games. The 360 has the potential to make games much bigger, much more atmospheric, much more realistic, much more interactive, and more than ever before. It opens up the potential to see things we haven't seen in games before. Take Mass Effect, for example. It looks so damn cool. It's cinematic. You travel about on a spaceship that you are the captain of, exploring a galaxy.

Nintendo make great games. But I do at this point feel like I'm playing the same thing over and over again. Zelda. Metroid. Mario. I love Metroid, but I don't even know if I'd buy the new one even if I had the Wii. It just looks like the same old same old. Whereas the 360 offers a wider selection of games. Admittedly, the 360 has been around a little longer to build up a selection. But look at the games that are coming out for the Wii. Like Far Cry. At first I was excited about Far Cry. But I looked at some clips... and it looks ugly. Seriously, it looks like an N64 game.

So I'm thinking... I buy a 360 now. And a year from now, when/if the Wii has a better selection of games and more impressive games 'cause seriously the games it has now don't look that great, then I'll buy the Wii. What do you think?

Get a Wii. It's cheaper and it's got better games in the long run. You get Mario, Zelda and the ultra kickass Metroid franchise. Big RPG support, a exclusive RE game, etc.

Get a 360 when it goes down in price so you can get GoW 2, Halo 3, Resident Evil 5, Blue Dragon and many more kickass titles too.

Agreed with the previous two posters. Go for both. I am. I'm getting my 360 latter.

Big RPG support? Such as what?

Let Microsoft clear out the rest of the kinks with their 360 and buy that up sometime next year, maybe late summer or early fall, but this Christmas I say go Nintendo.

So you can play only Zelda? At least on 360 you have a couple of great games, like Oblivion, Gears, Viva, etc.. Wii you have Zelda, only. Just like you only have Resistance of PS3 at the moment.

There is also Trauma Center and Rayman on Wii. Also Excite Truck and Super Monkey Ball are games that are just pure fun.

All those games are average at best, or just mindless short lived fun. Nothing substantially good on that list.

I don't know about any of the other launchers, but Twilight Princess and Wii Sports will be around for a long time. The only thing I wouldn't do is invest with Nintendo in multi-platform games, ie Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Rayman and Trauma Center are good games. Trauma Center is one of those you try and end up liking more than expected.

And first persons shooters aren't short lived fun? Most of them are beat within a couple days, and you get bored of the multiplayer quickly, unless it has killer multiplayer like Halo or the original Perfect Dark did. :o

i'm a huge fan of the wii and i will get it eventually, but right now, i've already planned on getting a 360 first.

there are just so many games i want right now on 360.

im gonna have to agree, Wii has a a great selection of games at launch, excite truck alone was worth the 250.00 price tag. and with more great games commin out... i mean come one, get a wii

Eh it just comes down to what you like. I've thought of getting a 360, but aside from Lost Planet and maybe Dead Rising, there isn't anything I'd actually want from there. I have the wii now and it does kick ass.

the main reason i'm getting the 360 is for the 3rd party action.

all the sports titles are superior on the 360 and a lot of the 3rd party games aren't there for the wii.

Red Steel is crap, Call of Duty 3 is a horrible borther of the better versions, Tony Hawk is 'meh' at best, same with ExciteTruck.

I was planning to pick up the wii first but after trying out gears and seeing the halo 3 trailer, I'm starting to lean for the 360 now and wii later.
