360 or Original, which Xbox should I get??

If you say so. I'm not going to bother with a guy who, willing or otherwise, it detached from reality. Or ignoring it. The pictures were different, but if you want to delude yourself into thinking that MS fixed a problem they themselves know they haven't fixed, then whatever, it's your money I guess. Good luck with that blissful ignorance.

I have a RROD in addition to the crapped out drive. MS still wants me to buy it twice, and I'm not the only one. There's plenty of ways for Microsoft to screw people out of the free repairs.

I'm not ignoring anything. I want to know. What other pictures? What thread? The only pictures I know of are the one that you posted and the one KALELL posted in a thread a while back, which are the same.

Go for the 360. There are a number of fantastic games coming out for it over the next year.

That's neither of the two pictures included in the link I posted in this thread. That is a falcon, manufacture date and all. It was in a thread started by "godmachine", that has since been merged into this, where a few other people have had falcons crap out on them. Well, not really, because those are fake. Or they intentionally wiggled a cable out of place. That must be it. People are just out to get Microsoft.

I can't believe our thread got closed!!! Now I'm at WAR!!!!!!!!!

See this is whats putting me off of getting the 360. All this uncertainty about over-heating, red lights of death and Falcon chips.

I don't want all that hassle.

The Original seems a much simpler option. And then in a year or so once i've played through all my Xbox games, I can get a 360 for probably half the price, hopefully a better model than are avaliable now and can catch up on all the 360 games i'll want by then.

If you go with Xbox 1, make sure you buy one that doesn't have the faulty power cable, otherwise your house will set on fire :)

This will be my first games console since I stopped playing my N64 six years ago! But before you all yell "360!!!", please take these factors into account...

1) At the moment, of the list of games I would purchase and play on the 360, 6 out of 9 are original Xbox games (that I would have to download the emulation software for).

2) If I purchase a 360, it would be the Pro/Premium package which would cost me about £250. Where as I have seen brand new Original Xbox's for sale for only £100. So I could potentially save myself £150!

3) From what I understand, Microsoft is currently in the process of fazing out the troublesome Zephyr motherboard. If I hold out on buying a 360 now, I could wait until the end of next year and not only would I get it for cheaper, but i'd almost be certain to get the new Falcon motherboards that everyone wants. As well as being cooler and quieter, the new 360's are supposed to be less likely to give you the "red ring of death". Allegedly.

4) I might even be able to hold out and skip getting the 360 altogther, instead waiting for Microsofts Eighth generation console (whatever that may be). Which would hopefully play both Original and 360 games!!

So... any input guys?

1) There's still 3 games you want on the 360, you won't be able to play those on the original X-Box and there will probably be more coming out in the future, there's no new games coming out on the original X-Box. Downloading the "patch" takes about 3-4 minutes, not really a big deal at all.

2) So to save yourself a little bit of money you're going to buy a obsolete system, hey I've got a VCR, I'll sell it to you cheap.

3) People make too much out of the Red Ring of Death thing, I know about 7-8 people with a 360, I'm the only one that got the Ring of Death and had a new X-Box within two weeks.

4) The 360 still has at least 2-3 years left in it and the new X-Box will cost even more than the 360.

Get a 360, it's well worth the price, it'd be stupid to buy an obsolete piece of hardware just to save a few bucks. Like I said I've got that VCR, do you want that?

you'd be wasting your money. get yourself a 360, and if you're so worried about overheating, you could get someone to mod the cooler, make it faster.

that's what I did, and I can go for hours and hours and the console won't even be warm.

seriously, unless you're rich, don't buy the original. it's a waste of money now.

once again, MS now offers a 3 year, free manufacturers warranty when you buy it...you dont have to worry about RROD at all at this point...hell, Gamestop isnt even trying to sell there overpriced breakage plans on it because of this anymore :o

get a 360, you can get new games and finding games for the old xbox is becoming hard to do.

Yes, you can, but you are paying the same amount for a much lesser service.
