my review of l4d:
okay, so a apocalyptic zombie game where you are given guns and sent on missions to safety, sounds like fun right? yes left 4 dead is very fun, but let's get real here. you're shelling out $59.99 on a game that has no story whatsoever. in each mini campaign you have an objective to get to safety, and usually each campaign on easy through normal takes about twenty minutes. there is no story at all, no character development, no answers as to when the infection happened, how it happened, or where these people came from. you are given a very small amount of weapons, you have the choice of an assault rifle, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a submachine gun, and a pistol. and on the other hand you can choose between a moltov cocktail, or a pipe bomb. now onto online multiplayer, you'd think there'd maybe be a map where you fight the other team as zombies, no. the online multiplayer is campaign, that is it, you are repeating the campaign exactly except a few infected zombies are actual people. I don't want to say this game is a huge letdown, it's just the idea of an apocalyptic zombie game gives me more expectations, valve did okay but they didn't deliver the real deal of what I (and I'm guessing many others) expected. overall, this is a strong rental game, I just don't see it as a buy.
