^^ There are still grerat covers today, but alot of them don't match up with this one.

Does anyone know what kind of "portal" that is?? Or is it one of Mysterio's illusions??

JRJR is one of my favorites. But even I can admit that he’s not consistent in quality. When he’s good, he’s REALLY good. When he’s bad….well…he’s pretty bad. Another thing too is who’s working on colors for him. I loved the coloring style used during his run on Amazing with JMS. Those two were made for each other. He draws a great MJ, IMO.

I think what makes JRJR stand out above other, more talented artists is that JRJR knows how to acutally tell a story with his art. Its not just about who can draw the coolest image. Drawing a good, easy to follow and entertaining page is whats the most important. That is something he excels at.

Who is that creature on the cover going all Doc Ock on Spidey?

Yeah I'd like to know that too!!

The Squid and he ended up being a very lame villain.

This is actually part of a Norman Osborn/Green Goblin story. It is one of only a few good Spidey comics written by Howard Mackie, but drawn beautifully by JRJR.

I know I'm in the minority but while I think it's a somewhat good looking cover and all, I think the whole concept with that cover is done to death and not nearly as great as you guys think. Very unoriginal if you ask me.

I f I remember correctly, it wasn't really a portal. Peter has strange dreams about his parents and is awoken several times. He tries to track down the Goblin, stays at Aunt May's and has more odd dreams. Most of the issue is like that, but it's a great issue.

Gotta agree. While the cover is good, it is NOT that original. Been done many times before.

^^ I've laways found Romita jr.'s work to be best when the colors are perfect. His recent run on ASM back in 2009 was geat IMO, but I do think (in terms of color, which was done by Matt Milla at the time) his work really popped out the most in his run with JMS, etc. Still like I said, I tought his work was fantastic in 2009, it's just that it works best when the colors are perfect. He's on my top 5 favorite artists list, btw.
