We are in the "mixed reaction" days Of Amazing SPider-Man, lol. Some of the stories alot of people didn't like, but also some people did as well.

This is all one amazing journey for me. I may be one of the biggest Spider-Man fans who doesn't read the comics. I only own the 500 Special Issue, bought at Islands of Adventure comic store in 03.

The Byrne and Mackie era. Didn't last long, thankfully, and reduced characters like Jonah and Aunt May to caricatures after years of development by writers like JM DeMatteis. Having said that, Mackie had said he was burnt out on Spider-Man years ago, and yet he was kept on and on by Bob Harras, for reasons no-one has ever determined.

But regardless, it would soon be the JMS era, and whatever people say about it, it brought a lot of fresh energy and ideas to the table.

^^ The JMS/Romita Jr. era was one of my favorite eras of SPider-Man comics from the last decade. I love how JMS had matured every character as well as having John Romita Jr. provide the excellent art. After Romita Jr. left, we got Sins Past....then Other. Both were very bad stories, IMO.

I've always liked this cover for a number of reasons. Spider-Man's costume has always seemed to change in terms of lighting of certain scenes, and that's one of the reasons I think his suit is one of the most (if not the most) recognizable superhero costume out there. It's kind of like it takes a life of it's own depending on the lighting. There are a number of issues where on the cover, the blue on his suit appears to be black.
