7.06 - Lara - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I don't care if she is or isn't.

Superman doesn't go behind people's backs - ESPECIALLY not family.

He was told she couldn't be trust and that she isn't what she seems from a trusted friend so he took precautions. He is preventing something from happening. He doesn't know 100% for sure Kara is who she says she is, neither do we.

It was just revealed that Kara was unaware of her father's dark nature.

Therefore, she is NOT evil.

And even if she was, Superman gives people the benefit of the doubt. SV's Clark is NOT what Superman should be. And don't give me crap like, "Duh...he's not Superman yet." He never will be in this universe. Superman doesn't act like this...suit or no suit.

He took the crystal before seeing her memories, therfore he didn't know if he could trust her.

The current Supergirl wasn't trust either at first despite her claims.

Umm...yes, she was.

Clark accepted her right away, whereas Batman had his doubts.

But thanks anyway for trying?

Clark is also still a padawan learner & he is not Superman yet on the show (I am expecting back slash for saying somethng that is 100 % fact). So rules can be broken & mistakes can be made.

Yes, Clark did trust her. No one else did and tried to convince him otherwise. Then we found out that Zor-El planted the crystals in her to protect her form the phantoms Clark would release. Her mission was to kill him, she just chose not to do it.

Either way... Clark has been shown to care deeply for friends and family, always watching over them. This is the first time he is taken precautions. The last few Kryptons that came around weren't so nice, I don't blame him.

Again...I just said, don't give me that bullcrap.

These aren't mistakes. These are examples of f***ing up a character.

I gave them until Lara to take care of the Clone Lana situation...which they did. Now I'm giving them until Siren to take care of the mis-characterization of Superman.

Do you think Clark becomes Superman over night ? He learns from his past mistakes & uses them to become a better person & all of that stuff. I think you are being to hard on Smallville because the fact is Clark is not Superman yet & he is not thinking like Superman does yet. He is still learning.

Clark can never win.

If he doesnt listen, the World is on the brink of disaster, and Clark's an idiot.

If he listens, then he's a liar and doesnt deserve to be Superman.

:csad:

You may not want to hear it, but he is not Superman yet. He can't be perfect at 20 years old. Chill out.

Is that directed at me ? Because Im not saying Clark does not deserve to be Superman but the fact that he is not Superman yet means he can make mistake & learn from them.

Despite that though, I think its something Superman would do anyway. If he had some alien technology that he thought was potentially dangerous, he would hold on to it, until he was sure about what its true nature is.

First of, i must say, while last night was the best episode of season 7 so far. Taht's not saying much because this whole season has big pile crap. I've hated every episode so far because it went back to the stupid freak of the week routine.

With that said, some issues...
1. supergirl naming KAL-EL---pure absolute garbage. I hate the idea of her being the one to teach clark how to fly, let alone, being the one that names him...what the f***?
2. did annette o toole get fired? where the hell is she?
3. lara's DNA in the crystal? seriously?
4. frequent visits by lara and kara to kent's house? what's the point of the space ship and that whole nonsense if they could have just come through the portal and dropped the baby and then go back to be killed?
5. jimmy and kara? you can't be serious. kara and lex makes more sense. Lex being there to protect her from the "evil force that want to hurt her" even though he has his own agenda.

No not at all. It was a general observation, inspired by Eddie Brock.

I think O'Toole quit, and where is it said that Kara is Definately teaching Clarkie to fly?

The portals were closed when they returned to Krypton so that Zod & his men could not escape. Did you even pay attention to the episode

grabbing the crystal behind her back is NOT UN-superman-like. As far as he knows, Kara is a "villain" who can't be trusted and wants to do whatever she wants and doesn't care about anyone else. He's doing what he's doign to protect kara, which seems very superman-like to me. and in the end, the crystal does belong to Kal-el, so i dont' see why he needs to tell everyone.

Yes...he's 5-10 years away from the suit.

He shouldn't be acting like a goddamned selfish Batman wannabe. By now, he should be a f***ing hero - albeit not in the LITERAL sense.

I won't "chill out" because the writers are ruining my second favorite comic book character AND my second favorite TV show.

She didnt name him. She came up with the suggestion. Lara and Jor-el named him.

I hate the idea of her being the one to teach clark how to fly, let alone, being the one that names him...what the f***?

She may give him some pointers but that doesnt mean she's going to teach him. Clark taught her how to use her superhearing.

2. did annette o toole get fired? where the hell is she?

Did you miss Phantom and the credits this year? Martha went to Washington and Annette O'Toole is no longer with the show. She only signed on for six season.

3. lara's DNA in the crystal? seriously?

You question that in a show about an alien from another planet.

4. frequent visits by lara and kara to kent's house? what's the point of the space ship and that whole nonsense if they could have just come through the portal and dropped the baby and then go back to be killed?

One visit, by each. And all the portals were closed, so that Zod and his army couldnt escape Krypton.

Well I'm not a comic books reader, but I believe that storyline is from the comics. Also Supergirl the Movie, Jimmy and Kara had a thing going.

As I've said MULTIPLE TIMES, SUPERMAN TRUSTS EVERYONE UNLESS THEY GIVE HIM A REASON NOT TO. He's not f***ing Batman for Christ's sake!

How in the Hell do you figure? Zor-El MADE it, and he entrusted it to Kara. I don't care who's DNA is on it, it's KARA's.

and they couldn't reopen seconds before krypton exploded to drop him off instead of the very long, unsafe route? gimme a break. Zod and men were captured in the phantom zone long before krypton exploded.

I believe they also dabbled with it in S:TAS.

I understand that he may be your second fave and whatnot. But this is not the comic book Superman, never has been. Anyone watching this show hoping it to be faithful to the books is wasting their time. Clark has been a hero since day 1... I'm not sure why you don't see that. Even heroes have dark moments, and IMO stealing the crystal isn't one of them, that was just smart.

I never said that he has to be like the comics, but it's not unreasonable to expect that he'll ACT like every other incarnation.

You don't take Batman and make him happy-go-lucky, for instance. So why make Superman a selfish, un-trusting person?
