8 Months Later...

Almost 12 years later, Jean Grey is still dead :(

Jean's still dead, Xavier's still dead, Wolverine's still dead, Uncle Ben, Gwen, etc...

So basically everyone except X-Men and friends of Peter are safe.

Ummm,

Supposedly Professor X is coming back

Karen Page for Daredevil is still apparently dead, fwiw (in fact, except for Elektra, all of Daredevil's girlfriends remain dead).

Anyway, I asked above what the flagship title is. While we still don't know that, the first crossover will apparently be spinning off of Nick Spencer's Captain America

I like the way they're handling it, with allusions towards Mutant Massacre (specifically, the model of Black Vortex, but a little more loose so you can pick up books or not). I always thought Infinity should have been done that way without needing an ongoing story book.

^I wish DD and Elektra would be an item. I don't like the whole unrequited love thing that keeps on coming up in Elektra books

some of these deaths are being reversed
but Marvel seems to be sticking to their guns pretty hard on a lot of changes lately

usually by this point, we'd be seeing some hints in solicits or elsewhere of Steve getting his youth back, Logan's resurrection, Thor regaining his hammer etc. But we haven't seen anything at all to indicate they're going to reverse the new status quo (outside of Thor possibly getting that ugly Ultimate Mjolnir)

i am sure we will steve get young and have his powers within a yr or two. Same goes with by the time thor 3 comes out i am sure odinson will be weilding the hammer again. Just like with mj moving to ironman books. I am sure if mj ends up being a major player for the new spider-man movie in 2017 we will likely see the global parker story over and mj back to the spider books in a big arch. Just look at past films for awhile we had organic webbing for peter. When asm was coming out we had a lizzard story going on and so forth.

Yea but what I'm saying is I think that's changing
Marvel seems to have looked at the lack of a sales boost that the books get from the movies and said "f**k it, let's just do our own thing", so "he's got a movie coming out" does not necessarily mean a return to the old status quo anymore

true but still usually we get some sort of tie in for the comics on the film side. Like i said we might not get a big huge thing. But like i said bring back a villain who hasnt been used in ages who in said movie. But i am sure they wont keep steve old forever. Jane will likely loose the hammer and odinson get it back. Then maybe jane can get her own hammer like beta ray bill.

by that logic, we would have seen changes occur this past Spring when Avengers came out, and we didnt. Steve, Sam and Thor's status all remained the same

I guess that Jean Grey, Logan and Xavier will be returned of death when the rights who are with FOX return to the Marvel.

I said this because the event would be big, and, the hype about they would doing increase the interesting about the franchise.
How the Marvel wants the rights again, in this moment would be benefit to the FOX only.
The Marvel Studios wants gets along with this, surely.

Might as well add [BLACKOUT]Cyclops[/BLACKOUT] to the list as well.

Though I am impressed that they have kept Jean dead as long as they have.

i am still sure thor odinson will be wielding the hammer again by 2017. As for steve probably a yr or two and he be cap again most likely.

Yeah, I don't know why people think the MCU causes the comics to follow. We have female Thor, old Steve, a Daredevil out in public wearing a red suit with a DD belt buckle, a multi-millionaire Spider-Man.

bc it has happened. After the release of Avengers, they had Hulk join the team and the movie lineup assemble in the books. Coulson was created in the books and now the lineup from Agents of SHIELD is a thing in the comics as well. We now have Daisy as an inHuman in the book after the reveal in MCU as well. These are just some examples. I think its shortsighted to say that the movies dont influence the comics or vice versa. Obviously isnt always the case but its quite apparent when it does happen

And as we see status quo do change after a few yrs be it around 1 to 3 yrs. Again things will likely change in time. Then like I pointed out at tines of films releases with x characters we do see some element of said movie being used in a arch or two in comics like a character return, change of powers etc.... .

Oh, I agree it happens sometimes. But the emphasis is on sometimes. People usually refer to it as an almost inevitability. That people will watch the movie, want to read a comic, and can't be allowed to see anything that doesn't match up.

Of course book not going to change 100 percent to x film. All o was pointing out certain elements ie costumes or characters be brought in as a tie in bit. To hook movie goers and so. But again status quo do have limits. They change from time to time. Just like modern comic deaths. Being a yr or two. Then things change.

12 new books coming in March:

  • The Amazing Spider-Man & Silk: The Spiderfly Effect #1
  • Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Alpha #1
  • Black Widow #1
  • Haunted Mansion #1
  • Hyperion #1
  • The Infinity Entity #1-4
  • International Iron Man #1
  • Marvel Universe Avengers Assemble: Civil War #1
  • Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man: Contest of Champions #1

Will definitely be picking up Black Widow and Mockingbird number #1 and any variants I can get my hands on.

Really disappointed that Karnak keeps getting delayed. Not sure if its Ellis or the new artist, but that first issue was so great. I need more!

There are lots of things that seem interesting, but right now I'm just getting X-books for the sake of time and money.

its 9 times out of ten any delays on books its likely on artist end. As issues are usually written up in advance of the art.

except for Secret Wars, where rumor has it Hickman apparently had no idea how to end the story, even as the first issues were hitting stands (most likely because Brevoort and Alonso where rushing him to get it out)
