8 Months Later...

I get it, Marvel wants to shake things up, but this whole new lineup just seems underwhelming.

Some of the titles seem interesting to me.

Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows sounds pretty cool to me. I enjoyed that miniseries they did and would like to see how that reality plays out a little bit. Should also make people who liked the Pete/MJ marriage happy. At least you hope so.

Great Lakes Avengers, I'm all over that stuff. A bit disappointed that Slott won't be writing it but I'll take what I can get.

Prowler is an interesting way to go with a title, so I may check that one out to see where they go with it.

Prowler, Solo, and Slapstick? WTH, is this the 90's???

Prowler makes sense given the Miles Morales connections and the current focus of the Amazing Spider-Man.

Those other jackasses make no sense to me.

So it took me a while but here I am with my thoughts on NOW! Spoiler: I'm significantly less than thrilled.

-First off, where the heck is Ant-Man? This is one of your film franchises who just got a big boost from Civil War, and his book is MIA? You have room for the Mercs solo titles but not Scott? It doesn't help that this was currently my favorite book on my pull list....:cmad:

-As a whole, though, this entire concept was getting off on a bad foot. Marvel JUST had a line wide relaunch last year and now they're already pushing a rebranding. And it's not like their sales required it. They've just completely fallen into this "Next Big Thing" marketing scheme and it irks me to no end.

-And then there's the new solo titles for......WHO? Was anyone asking for Deadpool's Mercs to get their own books (Except, of course, for Stingray, the only team member I'm actually a fan of) What was the thought process behind this? Which brings me to the next point...

-Diversity. Marvel is making such a big deal about it. But yet they keep offering up nothing but legacies that are nearly guaranteed to be temporary. They're throwing out solo titles to random guys like Solo or Foolkiller, while great characters like Cardiac, Puma, Blue Marvel, and White Tiger just wait in the wings. They have so many great ethnic characters, but aren't willing to give them a chance to push for REAL diversity. And on the villains front, while I'm pumped for the ones they did announce, what about Radioactive Man or Mr. Negative?

-In the end, there's a lot of books I'm excited for (GLA, Prowler, Kingpin, Infamous Iron Man, and Unworthy Thor) it's just overall a big disappointment for me.

Geez, another event?

Theres been an event every year for over a decade. Its expected

That being said, there are mini-events all year long on top of them.

My personal wish is they just had mini-events all year but no big status quo changing events. If they switch around which event goes where, they can cover every fan's books. That really should be enough. As it stands, I've gone from Standoff to Civil War II, to IvX, to whatever this event is. All it's doing is encouraging me to disinvest in as many books so I can hopefully avoid a tie-in.

I do like the Apocalypse War idea. Thematically linked, if not a direct crossover.

It's pretty much like Apocalypse's first big story in X-factor during Fall of the Mutants

So, any word on Ant-man? Cause really it's the only Marvel book I read...

Not sure of Ant Man but at Comic Con in San Diego someone asked about the Fantastic Four and no plans for them now

Judging by the solicitations, it looks like October is the last month for Ant-Man, which is just incredibly stupid, and not just because it was my favorite series. This is a movie franchise lead, what the heck are they doing canceling his title?

Marvel cancels books and then relaunches them all the time. It happens to their high profile, high selling books that have popular movies, such as Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, etc... Thats literally been their strategy for years. Unlike DC which tends to do batch relaunches at the same time, Marvel rolls them out over months. I really wouldnt be all that alarmed as an Ant-Man #1 is more than likely slated for early 2017

I'm just concerned because it isn't included in the Marvel NOW lineup, which is supposed to stretch all the way into early 2017.

They'll have a Wasp title, so the movie argument isn't as strong.

I do wish they would stop the relaunches. Enough is enough

#1 issues sell. Simple as that. And marvel is taking it too e extreme by relaunching titles all of the time. It's stupid. But it's business. I just with they'd start denoting volumes if they're gonna keep doing this. Because it gets confusing for both customers and retailers.

November Solicitations:

Marvel is killing me with the hiked prices on #1's. First Mosaic & Champions, now Ghost Rider. This is so completely counter-intuitive, it's ridiculous. Second dumbest move of the month? Apparently they're making Venom a villain again... (At least Great Lakes Avengers and Ultimates 2 sound great. I want to get excited for the new Iron Man series, but Bendis' writing is a bit of a question mark, especially when I'm on such a tight budget)

Ant-man only turning up in a back up feature in a Deadpool comic? Fantastic.

And is Occupy Avengers the only thing with Clint in?

Introducing the Champions

Early numbers are apparently out and it already has 400k pre-orders...

Marvel's incentive variants system works wonders.

I just don't get why people eat this crap up
for all the complaining readers do about modern "stunt driven" comics, they still sell like hotcakes
